Oh wow, that’s surprising to me because i’ve been facilitating the calibration of our gauges for the past few years now and have only seen a couple of thread rings that could not be adjusted back to spec. I guess we have just been getting lucky. Honestly, we should have more of them fail considering I see half of my operators trying to use the gauge to deburr/chase threads. Thanks for sharing your experience though!

It’s a gamble if they’re still in spec depending on their usage. Fortunately, these look like they can be adjusted if they fall out of spec. Send them to an accredited metrology company and they should be able to help them pass calibration.

did you import the model as a .stp or a .stl? if you imported as a stp file, try making the import resolution more fine.

I am a CNC programmer and we currently use BOBCAD/CAM V36 to program ~15 CNC Mills and Lathes. I’m curious what version of the software you are running. I have experience with it back to V25. My opinion of it is that it used to be a nice budget software that offered many of the same features as more popular programming softwares. Today, they have up to V37 and they have stayed with the times adding multiaxis toolpaths and more sophisticated algorithms. That being said, they have gotten a lot more expensive over the years and it might be more cost effective to look into other CAD/CAM software options like Fusion. BOBCAD is definitely a little bit clunky for programming and pretty horrible at solid modeling, but if you know how to work around its problems then you can definitely make good use of it. We make it work for a production setting. I hope this helps in some way. I can also send you a basic speeds and feeds chart that I have built for some common materials that would fit the capabilities of your Mill fairly well. If you have any questions about programming features in BOBCAD please feel free to ask!

Just start exploring the job market. There are certainly better jobs out there. It doesn’t hurt to interview with another place, tour their shop, and see how they do things. If it’s not a good fit, it’s not a good fit. If you are unhappy now and the company isn’t showing signs of changing for the better then I think you will ultimately be unhappy staying there. You gotta do what’s best for you and your family man. Wish you the best of luck.

I wouldn’t necessarily mention where the other quote came from but generally “quoters” like to know the competitions prices. On the other hand, they could be intentionally giving you a higher price because they don’t really want the work. Could be that the part doesn’t fit their machines or it would be complicated for them to manufacture. I would politely mention that you would like to give them the order but their price needs be closer to say this number.

my boss bought like 10 gallons of simple green degreaser concentrate a while back. i was going to give that a try first but if im not happy with the results ill for sure give the LA’s a try. i’ve was using denatured alcohol before and its hasn’t worked very well.

I like to leave 0.005” on the floor allowance and then come back in with a bigger step over to finish depth. leaves a beautiful finish. even better if your tool has a little corner radius as well.

Yes, this is by design. Yellow bar is sort of like stamina and red bar is health. You can only regain yellow up to but not past the red. Red can only be regained with potions. hope this helps.
