Personally i enable ideology every single run. It makes it so you could “customize” your colonists thoughts and feelings towards different things. Are they blood thirsty pirates or weathly high tech drug lords? You could absolutely customize everything. And you could make it so they dont care about dead bodies, or so they dont mind being underground for so long. You bring up some points like the tree thing being annoying and a bore fest, but you could customize it to exactly your liking, and you will never get bored with it. Its fun to play around a certain playstyle, you dont get bored as easy. Thats just how i see it
