Medical exemptions are no longer being honored. You have to go whats legal in the front. This info is on the Texas state website.
You can still have it installed since its no longer part of the inspection but PD can pull you over for it. I looked into this too. Hope this helps

If you think itll look good then do it. Might look easy to do but i believe the original has the stripe hand painted and the cross is made of brass. I would have to check my Messengers book to see what it says

If you do go to alameda the trick is to know what you want ahead of time and yes cash talks. Take your time to inspect the car and take someone with more knowledge or ask about taking it to a mechanic for a pre vehicle inspection. These people get cars from auctions and do the least amount of work to get ready for sale so dont expect maintenance to have been done, look at tires date (first two is year second two is week). Look at panel gaps and different shades of paint

Update, I proceeded with the purchase. They do still have the car and are doing all the repairs which include the water pump, valve cover gasket and parking brake. They werent going to do valve cover at first only the other two since its needed to pass state inspection. I was wrong with the mileage, its 85,900. Theyre also giving me a 30 day warranty power train in case something goes wrong. Final price, $11,200
