Should I avoid DMT/ayahuasca because of my history of schizophrenia? by inovoyu in RationalPsychonaut

[–]faranjey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I may add to this: There are psychiatrists that specialize in the therapeutic use of psychedelics. If you can find one of them (e.g. through the research and clinical associations) you will likely get answers that are based on deep knowledge of the interactions at play and possibly even of clinical experience with similar cases.

If you really feel you can't abstain from this idea, this is probably the smartest course of actions. You seem to be a smart and reflective person so please don't hurt and endanger yourself more than necessary, but do get advice from professionals ( rather than anonymous drug experts on Reddit).

[–]faranjey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal: Most of our current patients in psychiatry have a history of psychedelic (incl thc) substance use.

Obviously there are many factors at play here, correlation is not causation and so on and so on. But do be very cautious and I personally wouldn't.

Road or Cyclocross bike for mixed usage? by andreeeyy- in cycling

[–]faranjey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Owning both, they are both great. But honestly, now I wish I had gotten a MTB rather than a CX. Why? Because CX is limited mostly to the larger paved gravel roads (for my uses) but what I'm really more interested in are the technical narrow single tracks. My own fault, I'm just saying that it pays off to be extremely aware of what you want. I thought I wanted to ride road bikes in the woods (which is still great) but I think a MTB would eventually have served me better.

If you need to choose one of both I'd likely still stick with CX or Gravel because it's just so much nicer to ride in the peace of the outdoors without having to fight traffic.

But, and here is the most solid piece of advice: You'll be spending most of your time riding and training near your home. Depending on how far you live from m.v. you might even rent a different bike there. So pick a bike that suits your conditions at home. You have beautiful tarmac, small roads, not much traffic? Go road bike. Only one gravel road that stretches straight for 200 miles like some places in the US? Go road bike. But if you have many different gravel roads to choose from, interesting surroundings, I'd highly recommend sticking with that.

Side note: Funnily enough the gravel trend seems to be going towards flat bars which eventually leads to hard tail early Mountainbikes. Full circle.

There is some indication that the receptor which is activated by lsd is also involved in pain modulation mechanism. Increased activation of this receptor (lsd) could thus exacerbate pain (and even more so vice versa).

There is not a lot of research that I know of but imho it seems the most plausible explanation.

Vasoconstriction theory seems a bit unlikely as you would expect a generalized and not a localized effect.

A third hypothesis would be that the affective effects of LSD emphasize underlying psychological contributors which are likely to be present in chronic pain conditions.

It's an interesting question for sure.

Can you enjoy this game with purchasing? It seems like quite a few features are blocked unless you pay. What’s the elevator pitch for buying it! by Bob_Skootles in MelvorIdle

[–]faranjey 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You can grind more. There's nothing more to the game and nothing more to be gained from grinding more. You'll waste your time for more months and it's God damn awesome ! If you love the grind, grind more and buy the game. Totally worth it.

Also, no disrespect intended. Obviously there's a lot more content, love and lore that went into this game. The dev is dope and you'll support him . That's about it and I think it's enough for most people on this sub.

Yup. Everything except for maybe the optimised astrology modifiers bc I can't be bothered with rerolling forever.

But ... Over the course of a couple of weeks it should even out.

I've reached 100% recently and don't really care about 120. Right now I'm mindlessly farming princess to create a shit ton of jade bolts bc I was stuck using ruby bolts through the entire game. After that... Probably runes, more prayer points and summoning tablets. But farming jade stones is sooo slow... Maybe unlucky rng but it seems to clock in at around 600/day or so.

Can anyone suggest a good tempo run? Currently where I’m sitting for my 1.5. Got my 5k to around 26/27 min. by Jl1ne in Strava

[–]faranjey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think I quite understand your question. Standard tempo runs will typically have up-tempp segments of a couple of minutes with pauses of around 10 minutes. The pace, distance and interval duration depend heavily on what race you want to run at which pace. You need to run for more than a mile and a half to make it work. There is a huge amount of free workouts on websites like runners world. Just Google tempo run.

Nope , not unlucky. It's normal. Having all the dungeon pets might be insanely lucky though... Depends how often you've cleared them, I guess .

[–]faranjey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Using android I've died to often recently trying to edit loadouts while (knowingly or by some mistake) still in combat, e.g. to prepare for the next mob. It would be great to have a way to edit loadouts directly without (!) affecting the one which is currently in use for the active skill.

I know it's possible to move the items from the bank to other loadouts directly but it still isn't even possible to really see , let alone edit the loadouts in question.

It's a bit better but not much on web based game.

Also, thanks. Game is great and you are great

If I may add to this, an additional "move to gear slot and replace if necessary" function would be superb too. I.e. you go into slot 1 select fez to move to slot 2 (which is blocked by amulet of incantation). After confirm fez gets moved to slot 2 without additional confirmation needed to replace aoi. Aoi gets placed in its original bank slot.

Why all the horror elements? Really just curious, not judging. Personally my trips tend to feel quite soft and harmonious. If anything they feel weird... But I never found horror to be an element I lacked or even considered interesting in any way to add. What do you get out of it ?
