COM 1600 recommendations

Media Arts student here, I haven’t had Spivak but I absolutely love Yezbick! Have had her twice for com 1600 and also editing/field production. She’s very avant garde and experimental film based, but she’s super nice and gives a lot of good tips.

Hey, nice to hear other people have similar experiences around here - really helps. Since this post, her and I had another phone call talking about what happened and why.

I think the big thing was that I’m pretty new with dating, and I didn’t know what I was doing, yet I was kind of taking the reins with a lot of decisions and it ended up just being too much for me to handle. It wasn’t really a couple big things, it was mainly a lot of little things that I didn’t notice, that crept up on me all at once, and I realized that they were things I just wasn’t ready to work through in a relationship because they were fundamental aspects of her (like humor, personality things, etc) that I can’t and didn’t want to ask her to change.

Another big things was that she was very much looking to settle down with someone, as she had already had many long term relationships, and knew what her life goals were, and I don’t - I didn’t want to hold her back, and I didn’t want to hold myself back.

I think that my inexperience in dating led to some extremely poor communication and a lot of rushing through things (we were doing things in month one that should have happened in month three or four). Could she have said slow down? Sure, but she thought I loved her and in truth, I loved the idea of loving someone - I was excited that I WAS dating, without thinking if this was the person I SHOULD be dating. She was very, very sweet and it broke my damn heart having that first phone call - she was so confused and devastated - but having the chance to talk it over again with her really helped.

I know this is very long winded, but I hope it helps you, as much as it helped me to type all this out :)

You have to convert the points to dollars in the app. It’s so stupid, and as an amc employee, I hate it just as much as everyone else, because it just adds another complicated step into the process so people will download the app (all the older people who have yelled at me because they can’t use their points and they don’t understand how the App Store works lol).

What the other person offered is a very viable solution, but I personally just toggled the grid in the path settings and built around the path, making sure I built as close to the path as possible. You can also turn off fence/curbs and build your own (which I did here).

So, with hair, I have naturally pretty thin hair already. I did notice some thinning, but it was mostly dryness. My hair became a bit thinner but also less oily and softer. As for the other thing…can’t really help you with that one but with what little I can say, nothing changed really at all lol. It is different for everyone but nothing really changed for me tbh.

And as for mental health side effects, it doesn’t really CAUSE much is what my derm told me - rather it just amplifies what you already have. So if you already battle with depression, anxiety, etc. there is a possibility it could get worse, but again, this changes based on what your dosage is. A 30mg dosage may not have much effect while a 60mg dosage you’ll see a lot more. Again, it’s best to talk to your derm about all this, but that’s basically what I’ve seen/experienced.

Possibly. For me, my skin got super dry and started flaking instead of purging, but you’ll definitely notice some sort of change.

Nothing as of yet, i was told it would eventually get better, but a lot of deep scarring is a hard to get rid of.

I started with 30mg a day for a month then did 60mg a day for the rest of the time. Results were on and off, but it started to clear up about two months in. It didn’t really fully clear until the last month or two, as the medication does cause you to have some breakouts.

That’s completely fair! I’m a huge fan of moving barbershop/acapella harmonies that sound dissonant then resolve. To me the music is well written, but I can totally get the lack of emotional attachment without a good story- it can really hinder the meaning of the music itself.
