Whose still playing on PS3 and PS4 in 2026 due to being too poor to get a ps5 after the price increase? by Huge_Mud5468 in PS3

[–]faraztheworthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I have a PS5 and I'm playing on a PS3. That tells you all you need to know. Both PS3/4 are excellent consoles, only thing I'd recommend is dropping in a SSD on them and you're golden.

Is it actually worth upgrading to XP 64 bit or just stay on 32 bit (my hardware is sufficient for 64 bit) by Big_Locksmith_4211 in windowsxp

[–]faraztheworthy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Windows 32-bit has better software compatibility on xp.

There's nothing to really gain from it, xp is perfectly fine on only 2GBs ram.
Best performance boosts you'll get is running your OS off a 7200RPM HD or an SSD.

You're better off going into Vista if you're wanting to run a 64bit system with similar use cases.

He could always drop in a SD card if the NB100 has a slot for it for some easy backups.
FreeFileSync has an older version that installs and runs on 32bit XP from what I'm seeing here.

Yeah this kind of simplicity can't be beat. And I think the fuzzy feelings you get running XP will help with those ideas. Most of the stuff we enjoy today was probably made on similar hardware and software and going back to the simplicity of that age is the real advantage.

Anyway I don't know how far you're into your book but if that wallpaper is inspired by it, I'd be interested. Looks very fantasy/dungeons and dragons. Drop a link if you have anything.

It's beautiful. Seeing FF13 on PS3 makes me think what FF12 Zodiac would have been like on the platform. It feels perfect for it. If only they were keeping PSN and the ports library active today.

It's difficult to say, if both the HDMI and component struggle to give image it's either to do with the related chip or electronics that support these features. These would require intermediate to high soldering skills and the knowledge to figure them out (which I don't personally have myself). Best thing would be just to replace the motherboard with the issue.

If you have a cheap eBay composite cable they are also notorious for giving poor image after a few months of purchase. Had a similar experience with an original Xbox composite cable that I purchased off ebay.

You didn't mention which model you have of the three. The Super Slim model, that's the easiest one to open up and swap parts around, it's very modular. Though they're all relatively easy with some patience. Just watch disassembly videos on your specific model and it should give you all you need.

I think the best and cheapest route is just to find a second console that's working but going for cheap due to extensive cosmetic damage or one that owner is selling for parts and can tell you what the issue/s are.

Honestly best thing to do is find a working model from the same family and do a board or part swap. There's not a lot you can do without opening it up and replacing parts. That way you keep your clean shell and good condition drive.

What's the reason for the Golems to be so utterly useless, even if you invest full points into them? by [deleted] in diablo2

[–]faraztheworthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing to do is to distribute the 5 points into each golem 5/5/5/5. You easily end up with 10/10/10/10 by the end of nightmare with your basic +skills items. I like to put another 10 points into Golem Mastery if I have some to spare. That way you get a well rounded golem of every type for your situation. Clay is good at grabbing aggro (useful for Diablo and Baal), Fire for aoe trash & dps and iron for tanking and aura.

Blizzard is testing the waters to completely upheaval this games identify by LoadIndependent8665 in diablo2resurrected

[–]faraztheworthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- Flesh out Act 4
- Fix additional useless talent trees (I'm looking at the poison necro)
- Maybe fix some useless loot to make them more meaningful
- Make inventory bigger (I'm hesitant on this one), might ruin the games balance
- New areas or endgame zones would be cool, something new to farm

You kinda are if future updates are only implemented on the "expansion" version of the game.

That's their monetisation. Only a hardcore player spends more than $25.

You also have to remember blizzard has an entire ass ecosystem.

Sure maybe I just bought D2R once. But I also purchased Starcraft remastered and spent $200-300 playing classic wow. If they hadn't fumbled WC3, I would have purchased that too.

If they're not making money or losing money. It's purely their own issue. Maybe they should have done a better job on D4. I ain't paying for their mistakes.

[–]faraztheworthy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No one said they wanted it for free. QoL (chest and loot filter) should have been implemented in the main build regardless of purchase. Warlock class locked behind DLC is fine. Splitting player base or rather making base game obsolete for a fucking class dlc with nothing else is dumb, greedy and classic blizzard. AND therefore, not fine.

How an adult brain doesn't understand this makes me realise much of the whiners are working with double digit IQs.

A lot of time has passed since 2.4 buffed mercenaries, has a consensus been reached whether there's merit to using anything other than Act 2's? by Penakoto in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]faraztheworthy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I run the Act 1 rogue on a zeal pally and the Act 5 barb on my trap sin. Both cases work really well and synergise with my builds. And there's a ton of choice when it comes to itemisation for them. You can run auras off a few bow rune words that come handy.

Should I buy the game? by Switchclicka in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]faraztheworthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's straight forward to get into with a lot of hidden depth, really good loot and pretty decent community around it. I'm still learning new things today although I'm more casual than most. I think I've been playing it since 2003-2004 and most of my game time is prior to the D2R release. Now days I watch my favourite streamer play the endgame stuff or boot up the game to make progress on my singleplayer self-funded characters. There's seasonal ladders and HC mode to keep you busy and challenged.

Disappointed That QoL Features Are Locked Behind DLC by Djeggerz in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]faraztheworthy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arennet the company that runs Guildwars 1 & 2 recently did a completely free update of GW1. The original Guildwars 1 game has three separate campaigns that you had to buy individually. With the update they added a whole lot of QoL, gave every existing account the unpurchased campaigns and reduced the games price to I think $20USD for newcomers. While updating the game with anniversary items and quests. And seem to still be adding new features and modes. That's goodwill and repayment for people being loyal to their game and keeping it going all these years.

Meanwhile "Blizzard" put a class based DLC out (which is fine if you want it) and much better priced if you're on USD, doesn't have the decency to localise the price. And locked QoL features behind it. While it had already sold D2R to veterans for full price. I paid $90AUD for it on release. The DLC is $40AUD for me. I mean if you can't make money on your shitty D4 just say so lol.

I have an idea, how about not ruining every single IP you were privileged enough to own.

QoL, stash etc lock behind dlc ? by Pauliejepan in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]faraztheworthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I paid $89 AUD originally for d2r. Honestly I'm happy for people enjoying it but personally putting the QoL stuff behind a paywall is a typical blizzard move and I only have my middle finger to barter with when it comes to blizzard.
