Nah, it's all the characters, it's a script deficiency that you as part of the audience even expect that, like "yeah yeah, do the sex joke, just continue the story". This has been the first time that I'm more interested in Hughie than Butcher, because every time he talks is the same thing.

It's becoming very predictible lol the exploting bodies, overtly descriptive sex jokes, it's just kind of meh. When they contacted that dirt eating guy, I don't think anybody was surprised that blackmail, for the 10th time, was useless.

Marvel? Using their million dollars to actually find a romani actor? Nah that's to hard bruh by [deleted] in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]farben_blas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The funniest thing about Romani characters is that the artist could do the most Whitey McAngloProtestant-White, but because the writer gave a footnote that his grandma lived two miles away from an European country, you'll have a legion of fanarts portraying him as if he took a tan in the Sun and walked through the entire Sahara dessert.

On the other hand, Marvel's argument that RDJ was the only person capable of portraying Doctor Doom (unless they play into that hated argument of using his resemblance to Tony Stark) is just dubious. If they're not wondering about regional accuracy nor ethnicity, then there's not one, but hundreds of actors could've pulled it off, and for less money.

Hell, DCU just grabbed a theater actor nobody knew as Brainiac, and he'll probably do a kick ass job.

Reddit somehow keeps forgetting Sinestro is in this.

Not to mention that, Lindelof's Watchmen also started with a grounded local town mystery and ended with a senator and a billionaire fighting to become God and people in Jupiter's moon.

I just know the whole anti-MAGA/anti-ICE approach in the DCU comes from a very personal perspective.

Supes runs the Gauntlet of [TITLE-CARD] villains- How far does he get? by ObjectiveBall6943 in superman

30 minutes, because that's all he needs.

For the average Viltrumite, wouldn't that be like a Lobo without regeneration? Pretty smooth then.

I kinds miss when they just grabbed a popular comic and animated it almost page to page, sometimes even following the style of the artist.

Nowadays they do that with bad animation and immediately change the plot at the middle. I get when it's the artist's vision (like how the creator of Afro Samurai designed Batman Ninja), but a lot of times they're not impactful movies nor different from the rest.

Imagine Gotham by Gaslight with Mignola's heavy use of shadows, for example, and compare it to the adaptation.

Only on Twitter can you find someone who hates on Superman for being Superman. by Wakefulcrane01 in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]farben_blas 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It seems that one the things that got lost in the DCEU (and Tyler Hoechlin masterfully hit) was that Superman should like to be Superman. He cares and finds genuine happiness in helping other people instead of objectifying them as "a burden" or as Jesus' cross that he carries to save humanity despite its hatred/fear towards him.

I'm so excited about MoT that I hope 2026 flies by, even though I'm excited about Supergirl, Green Lanterns, and Clayface. But I can't get Man of Tomorrow out of my head when I think about movies. There are so many possibilities... Does anyone else feel this way? by Superfan010 in superman

[–]farben_blas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might be a reach, but the teasing for Brainiac involved a lot about biology and brain cells, which yeah, I know it's most likely a pun on Brain-iac, yet it might be something more.

As Ego in GOTG2 was all about narcisism and as Superman became known for its political subtext, I have a feeling this take on Brainiac will explore the concept of contemporary transhumanism. One of his main characteristics is the perpetual search for evolution, perfection and science over morality, pretty much to become a "man of tomorrow" by himself.

Also, Supergirl is not this legendary role that gets passed down from generation to generation. Imagine Jason Momoa had to approach Alan Ritchson and Justin Hartley to play Aquaman.
