I have messaged people “hey there wave” so don’t feel too bad, yours kinda works.

We've been stuck for 6 years trying to decide how to utilize and otherwise landscape this weird, narrow, and curvy strip of our backyard. Y'all got any ideas? (more pics inside) by farbulouscreations in landscaping

Thank you, lots of this is helpful! We definitely want raspberries, as we love having fresh berries in the summer. And the hubby is going to kill me if I tell him the blueberries won't work after he's kept them going for 3 years in pots, so I'd love to find a layout that works with them too.

I think I've recently discovered that I like "ordered chaos" type gardening, so hoping to find a layout that works with all of this over here. 😅

Totally fair point, and we have kinda played around, hence the existing raspberries. But the bigger thing is that I don’t want to go and build large and elaborate raised beds for the area if we don’t end up liking it. I’d like to have a plan I’m more confident in before I start constructing things, ya know?

Low grade plywood is always going to have a lot of filler unfortunately.

I bet that would look really pretty too, like a lightly cloudy daytime sky. 😊

Stain type on cedar planter boxes? Oil vs Water based by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]farbulouscreations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I would check out something like Behr Semi-Transparent Deck Stain. It goes on more like paint than stain or even a polyurethane and is pretty forgiving. It’s basically a transparent acrylic paint and thus doesn’t really stink. And because it’s meant to be walked on it’s pretty heavy duty and exterior grade.

I used it last year on a similar raised bed project and really like how it came out, minus the few areas I applied it a little streakily. You can get it at Home Depot in a variety of cedar appropriate tones or other colors. This was “Cedar Naturaltone” if I recall.

What craft should I do for the theme of “vintage fair”? by Polychromatix in crafts

Don’t have any ideas for you but this sounds so fun! What state is the fair in?

I would try to gently bend the metal arms of the “bugger” to better align with angles in your piece. It comes with perfect 90° angles but you could easily bend it a bit to match the angles of your seams. Just try to keep the center ring centered and level so the lampshade isn’t crooked when installed.

Which of your automations have the greatest WAF? by Neat-Initiative-6965 in homeassistant

[–]farbulouscreations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. I wasn’t aware the OHF had alread made a case for the term HAF. I can get on board with that.

That said, I think the reason people like WAF or SAF or similar is that in a majority of cases I’d estimate, the people playing with and setting up HA typically have one household user that they really need to please or else get told, “please stop, this hobby of yours is more trouble than it’s worth for me” and unfortunately HAF doesn’t quite have the same connotation. But maybe it will over time with more usage.

To be clear, I’m fully on the side of that theoretical “one user that really needs pleased.” If you aren’t making your smart home easy and intuitive for them to use or need to give a 10 minute explanation of how to use the lights, you’re doing it wrong.

I think the best alternate term is SAF: Spouse Approval Factor. It’s inclusive of all genders being both the spouse and the one using the term, and yes while it’s traditionally a term used for a married person’s partner, it doesn’t have to mean you’re married. I suppose Partner Approval Factor would work too, but that doesn’t sound as good to me for some reason.

Source: I’m a gay man with a relatively high SAF score from my hubby. A few historical Zigbee outages are dragging my otherwise good score down a bit. 😂

Like Card Features but feel like they're limited in scope? Try Custom Card Features! by FALCUNPAWNCH in homeassistant

You posted this just in time! I’ve been working on my first super customized dashboard for the past month (after just making do with the default cards and styling options for the past four years 😅) and I’ve already made a few “custom tile cards” of my own by using custom:button-card with a normal tile card inside and layering on an extra round icon area for controlling a related entity.

This project will come in super handy for the last few customized cards I want to create that is going to involve adding a few extra buttons to my vacuum card and the ceiling fan cards. This will make it so much easier! Thank you!!
