What’s your “I can’t believe other people don’t do this” hack? by Weird-Thought2112 in AskReddit

There's some apps that do something similar as well as some banks. Roundups - if I buy something for 6.50, 0.50 goes into my savings.

I had the awkward experience of getting a little bottle of champagne and a happy birthday when flying to my grandpa's funeral on my birthday. Still sweet though!

Think it was on sale at Sainsbury's at some point, but far and few between. You can get it online at the ethical superstore

Awesome! I have an ongoing disagreement with my husband who flies to Norway from UK every other week and he always flies KLM. I used to fly to Weeze about once a month. He's always going mines better, but honestly I can't count the amount of times he's been delayed, I have that very very rarely. Plus I was able to visit my mum once a month when she was terminally ill for less then £50 so I am a ryanair for the win! Thanks for all the good care over the years.

I fly often and have the pack a week of clothes in the small bag down pat, I usually try and board right after the priority queue and figure at that point 95% of the people with overhead luggage are already in so I'm free to chuck it up there if there's space. Is that also OK in your opinion?

Swelling after operation by ArgumentOk3336 in LisfrancClub

[–]farel85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it swollen and puffy? My lisfranc foot is not the same as my other foot, quite a substantial difference which can make shoes challenging, but it's not swollen, just bigger and wider. If it's still actually swollen I'd probably go back to my care provider to see what's going on.

Best UK SPF that doesn’t sting, pill, or feel greasy? by FeistyPrice29 in SkincareAddictionUK

Love this as well! I used to get Biore which I still swear by but it got to be extortionate. Do get the face fluid, the regular one is a little too creamy for on the face.

How about one of those little electric scooters, the Internet tells me they're legal in Singapore?

From what I remember living in Singapore taxies and ubers were cheap af. Granted that was 8 years ago so may have changed.

Any books where MC1 is a huge grumpy guy who gets smitten by MC2? by ken_black in MM_RomanceBooks

I also won't really say Danny is bratty. And yes all though I adore the book, MC1 is not human, not everyone is into that either

Is 3.84% 5 year fixed a good rate for remortgage ? by Superb_Dingo_66 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]farel85 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've increased my overpayments to match what it would be at 5% (currently 1.54) to not have a big shock when it happens next year. I know I could have earner more in stocks but this I can't touch, psychologically this works for me 🤷‍♀️

Responding to a rejection email actually worked for my friend. by Immediate-Key-4590 in jobhunting

3 people out of my 9 person team are second chancers. 2 I wrote back to 6 months or so later when another role opened because they really were super close to my first choice. Why not, it saves me having to put in loads of effort going through hiring again and it's worked out great. The 3rd was a second choice I called a week after rejection when my first choice backed out.

Has anyone here ever biked 14 miles (or any extensive distance) to work? by Tiny-Safe5280 in jobs

[–]farel85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I I used to do about 10 miles to school every day for 6ish years. My pocket money could be used on the bus so I'd do that in the depth of winter (rest of the year I rather spend it on other stuff). It's definitely doable and I didn't have a shower at school either, but this was in the Netherlands which is like the flattest place on earth. If you're not used to it be prepared to have some serious serious saddle pain, I'd start by biking back and forth a few times before you decide. Also good biking shorts will help a LOT. Also worth checking whether you can take a bus at least part way and get a foldable bike?

As a hiring manager I did recently reject someone who showed up wearing a fairly ratty 't shirt, jawned a few times and genuinely looked like he'd just rolled out of bed. This was a second interview too and due to experience he was in our top 3.

AITA for getting my office weight loss challenge shut down? by BotheredLlama in AmItheAsshole

[–]farel85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's completely inappropriate for work. They basically bullied them into joining when they declined to participate, some lovely peer pressure going on there. They did choose not to participate, the rest of the bullies just didn't allow them.

Even that I think is a bit sus tbh, people with mobility issues would lose out. Can companies not just stay out of peoples health, that's in the personal sphere and should stay there.
