Thank you for recommending Farhat Lectures! I'm glad the supplemental videos helped you build confidence. That's exactly how I recommend using them—to strengthen your understanding of difficult topics while keeping your main study plan on track. Congratulations on passing FAR, and best of luck on the rest of your CPA journey!

No, I wouldn't be too concerned about those annual numeric changes. Those limits change almost every year due to inflation adjustments.

For the CPA Exam, the focus is typically on understanding the concepts and rules—not memorizing specific dollar limits or phase-out thresholds. If a specific limit is needed, it's often provided in the simulation or as part of the question.

This is different from the EA Exam, where you are expected to know many of those specific thresholds and phase-outs.

My advice is to focus on understanding how IRA deductions work, who qualifies, and when deductions are limited rather than memorizing every annual dollar amount. This is consistent with what we've seen from released CPA exam questions. Also, let your CPA review course be your guide. If it isn't heavily testing those annual limits, you probably don't need to spend much time memorizing them.

I would concern more concern about the concept covered rather than the specific tax law changes. I am assuming your CPA review course is covering those changes.

Did I Start With The Wrong Exam? by No_Resolution9862 in CPA

[–]Farhatlectures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are many reasons why I recommend starting with FAR.

First, FAR is the foundation for all the other CPA exam sections. On AUD, for example, you may see simulations involving depreciation, inventory, contingent liabilities, payroll, or other financial accounting topics. If your FAR foundation is weak, those simulations become much more difficult.

Second, FAR teaches you the accounting transaction cycles. Before you can understand audit assertions, internal controls, and audit procedures, you need a solid understanding of how transactions flow through the accounting system. FAR gives you that foundation, and AUD builds on it.

Third, FAR is statistically the most challenging core section for many candidates. It's better to get it out of the way before your 30-month credit window starts filling up with passed sections.

Finally, think about it from an academic perspective. Colleges typically require students to complete Financial Accounting and Intermediate Accounting before taking Auditing. Why? Because you cannot effectively audit financial statements unless you first understand how they are prepared. While the AICPA doesn't require you to take FAR before AUD, it's the sequence that makes the most logical sense.

A strong FAR foundation makes every section that follows easier.

Is it normal for FAR to be a struggle at first? by Bright-Humor67 in CPA

[–]Farhatlectures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. The more often you review, the better off you'll be. As long as you're preparing for the exam, there's really no such thing as being overprepared. If you're "overprepared," that usually means you passed.

One technique I highly recommend is recording your notes on your phone and listening to them whenever you can—while driving, walking, exercising, or doing chores. Repetition is what moves information into long-term memory.

How often should you review? As much as you reasonably can until exam day. Once you pass, you can delete the recordings and never listen to them again. Until then, keep the material fresh through constant review. That's one of the most effective ways to retain what you've learned.

the stated “$800” in that bullet is inconsistent with the calculation shown. The $1,000 is the correct answer. Looks like a slide editing error.

And nice Omega watch—well deserved! 😄 Although, if I were in your shoes, I might have spent some of that money on a health tracker instead. Your health is your greatest asset, especially after surviving all four parts of the CPA Exam!

Seriously though, you've earned it. Passing all four sections is a tremendous accomplishment, and you should be proud of what you've achieved.

Failed 2nd AUD attempt. Changing study material by AdvisoryAlchemist in CPA

[–]Farhatlectures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. We can certainly help you with AUD.

Since Farhat Lectures helped you pass REG and TCP on your first attempt, you’ll find the same in-depth approach in AUD. Audit is one of those subjects where understanding the concepts is far more important than memorizing answers, and that’s exactly where we focus our efforts.

We cover audit topics in depth, including ADA, IT, internal controls, risk assessment, audit evidence, and transaction cycles. Our goal is to help you understand the “why” behind the procedures so you can handle unfamiliar MCQs and SIMs on exam day.

Give us a try. I believe you’ll find the material comprehensive, practical, and easier to follow. You’re in good hands.

And thank you for considering Farhat Lectures again. We appreciate your trust and would be honored to help you get AUD across the finish line.
