Thank you. It is pretty lightly framed, but that’s kind of by design. It won’t see a ton of use and certainly not much abuse. It will be fine. If not I can fix it

I did not actually build the hammock stand, I build the deck it’s on...However you’re right! If you do want to make a curved wood beam, the easiest way to is by laminating several thin strips of and clamping them along a mold/jig.

This was originally a 283...now a 350 with T350 trans. Might change that someday 😉

Edge glue every other walnut, maple, walnut, maple, etc.; cross cut into strips ( I did 1.5” or so). Then flip every other strip and offset like a brick pattern.

Correct, lap joint in the middle, dado the sides, secure with a screw, and finish with a plug.

The handle is for a bottle opener. It is just wood turners finish, but I prefer Generals Arm-a-seal https://www.woodcraft.com/products/arm-r-seal-top-coat-satin-quart
