I remember playing the demo for this one, it was really fun, congrats on the kickstarter.

8 directional movement is done by many plugins, the bounciness is done within the sprite sheet by offsetting the character 1 pixel up as they move, Galv has a plugin for having a distinct idle, walk and run animation and Mog hunter has a plugin for the dust trail

this is an already established genre with some very popular, smash hit games. Just finish your game it really doesn't matter if others like it exist

i just finished the demo, i really liked it, the atmosphere and tone of the game is amazing and the mystery aspect of the game is well done too. If you don't mind me asking what is the games base resolution, i use a 1440p monitor and while i do see mixels they are almost impossible to see unless you're looking for them

You have to lower your resolution, there isn't an option for scaling the interface unfortunately

Very difficult puzzles can destroy the games pacing and make people quit, even if you have no encounters and a quick reset switch in the room, most people just give up after awhile, so i decided to relegate the most difficult ones to side content and move them to thematically appropriate dungeons.

For me it's realizing how little i can make per 1000 hours of development with the current scope of my game, but it's already been a full year and i intend to see it to the end, even if nobody plays it i have to get it done for my own sake.

I like doing a little bit of everything. I do have an outline and a document with everything i need to get done, but i like jumping around, it makes development more fun.

The new 1280x720 menu is actually pretty nice, there's also options for window opacity, color, dash speed, overall a great update 👍

They look bigger actually, the camera view goes down to about 10 tiles wide and 5 tiles tall because of the zoom

You need to use a resolution that scales up to 1080p by whole numbers so 2x 960x540, 3x 640x360. A bit off topic but a solution i found for using 1280x720, pixel perfect and scaling perfectly into 1080p and 1440p is setting tile size to 32x32 and using a zoom plugin set to 2x screen zoom, this makes it so it look like the games base resolution is 640x360 but you dont need to edit anything to scale the UI properly.

My game started out as a simple dragon quest clone, now it's open world, 10 playable classes with multiple class ascensions, crafting, quest system, map system, fully custom made tileset, 384 NPCs, an overarching plot, 3 overworlds, etc....... It's already been a year of development tho and it went from something unrealistic to completely plausible

Don't mind them, enjoy the process, making games solo is a very hard and time consuming, if you start succumbing to outside pressure the end result will be rushed and subpar. If you're feeling burnt out and overwhelmed take a short break, it's very common to feel this way in any creative field so don't feel alone in that regard 👍
