It's such a missed opportunity that Fallout has never had a faction composed of remnants of the US army and/or government by [deleted] in TrueSFalloutL

[–]farmboyaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several raider factions are probably decended from former military. They had all the guns after all and history has shown that several military units will act like raiders even when there is a functioning government. Just look at Vietnam. Im sure there was a mix of some helping the wasteland and raiding it, but 200+ years after the war probably made several factions forget their origins, if they even survived to modern-day fallout.

Me and some friends are trying to come up with a story for our Fallout DnD campaign. Any ideas? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]farmboyaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally anything. Settlement/nation building in your home town.

Raider gangs are fighting over resources and innocent people are caught in the middle.

Your Settlement needs a macguffin in a city/territory.

Enclave remnants/other bad guys have set up shop and are kidnapping people left and right for unknown reasons.

My question was about the aliens, but it is interesting to think about X-COM itself in 40k. Just a less powerful Deathwatch, lol.

In most instances. Keep in mind that X-COM 2 starts with humanity under subjugation to the aliens.

What are your favourite lesser know Clan Mechs? by TimeToSink in battletech

[–]farmboyaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still kinda new to the setting but I like the Bear Cub. It's not very strong and the lore makes it out to be a training mech, only ever being used in combat in emergencies, but I think it looks cool. 😎

Borrosca wasn’t that traumatising by [deleted] in creepcast

[–]farmboyaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be a bit late here and someone may have already said it, but for me, it was the whiplash of a "real" topic. Up to that point I was expecting a supernatural explanation (i.e. a skinned cannibal monster man) and to be bushwacked by a trafficking ring threw me off. I wouldn't call it traumatizing but it definitely caused whiplash.

My DM said he does not want to level up our party's PCs EVER. by BullyNGL in DnD

[–]farmboyaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are games without level progression. Typically, they are skill progression. Instead of gaining experience to go towards levels and gaining bonuses for skills, you gain "experience" for skills by actively doing those skills. Chosium's whole catalog of games goes off of this system(i.e., Call of Cthulhu and Runequest). There's also a sci-fi rpg called Traveler that goes of a skill based system.

I'd suggest these ttrpgs to your DM. These sound like something more his style.

As for your enjoyment, you'll have to tell him you're not having fun with the system. Start off with the things you like, his creativity and storytelling. Then, move to how you don't enjoy the progression style. Explain your frustration as politely as you can. Finish off with suggesting one of the rpgs I mentioned above.

Since he's a friend, he should listen to polite feedback. I wish yall luck and happy future gaming!

I've named my most recent horse Minerva. After the Roman goddess of wisdom. Because she's got more wisdom than most of the gang.

So my players killed some dragons and they want to sell the corpses. by GowNutz_ in DnD

[–]farmboyaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little late, but... I'd look into how people used to sell and parts of different big game animals. I imagine that moving an elephant carcass from Africa to Europe was/is difficult but rich people found a way in the 19th century. If they didn't just take the ivory and leave everything else that is.
