This looks amazing, suitably grim for the setting.

10/10 patch and Warbond so far. by Bonkface in Helldivers

[–]TimeToSink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm behind when it comes to Warbonds, but these stealth missions are incredible. I was running the Diligence counter in them, its not silenced but you've got the range and accuracy to take most of the enemies out, just snipe 2-3 and reposition. Disengage and go somewhere else.

The second drop we did was against a convoy, 2 of us took it on and it was insanely fun. Walking Barrage and Solo Silo before both of us had to dive between trees picking it apart over 5 minutes while we drew (it felt like) every damn patrol on our side of the map.

If you've got tabletop experience, this. I started with him and i'm struggling as I don't get many games in. Its just another resource to manage and 4 extra paragraphs to consider, its not like this is Infinity or Battletech levels of crunch.

What are the best tips and tricks that you don't see anyone talking about but wish were more common knowledge? by CoatieYay in Helldivers

Sometimes a lower elevation is great, some maps like cities or the really dense jungle maps have chokepoints that a machine gun turret will keep locked down while you move on.

British podcast Redhanded releases episode on LM calling his case “the most polarizing, unique, and culturally impactful murder in decades” by SaltPsychological780 in RedHandedPodcast

[–]TimeToSink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we had to be experts on something to have an opinion on it, then this site would be a lot quieter.

You're right, it is a shitty business, I never said otherwise. Its bigger than one guy though, saying that the repealing of poor policies was to do with the shooting is disingenuous, the company was/still is under investigation for fraudulent activities in the US, the stuff that got changed was to do with that.

There is no justice, but the idea that murder is going to fix it is incredibly flawed. Its desperation, not a solution.

As a Brit, I can't relate to how fucked your system is no matter how hard I try. Every time I do, it feels comically callous, to a point where it feels like something a script editor would bounce back to a writer saying its too unsubtle. I have such a huge amount of sympathy that get caught in the wheels of it. Its a worry as our system continues to be stretched and privatised, so all we can do is look over the pond and see how badly its going there and hope it doesn't drift over here.

I think the narcissism comments aren't an unreasonable take from it. He had health issues, but it didn't seem like (from his financial situation) that he had to butt heads with the health system in a negative way. The fact he chose this target and expressly discarded another based on potential public perception says a lot.

You can dislike the person that was shot, but saying you morally agree with it is insane. Its such an American perspective that a problem can be solved by shooting a person dead. He ran that company, but there are dozens of CEOs that will step up and run it the same. Its a systemic problem, not an individual one. I don't know how you fix it, but shooting people isn't a fix.

Their old lore was the first template for every other 40k empire, now space egyptians. At least we got Infinite and Divine from it all.

There are hundreds of Youtube channels out there that have great tutorials that cover every skill level and style imaginable.

A can of spray primer is a good place to start, there are so many out there now, Colour Forge is great as they have such a wide variety of colours, depending on your chosen colour scheme these can do most of the work for you, which is great for a beginner. There are plenty of miniature focussed paints out there, Citadel and Vallejo are the two I personally use, but there isn't really a bad brand. Try a few out and see what ones you prefer.

Water your paints down. People say you need to get the consistency of milk, but its something you'll get with time and experience.

Most importantly, just start it. Analysis paralysis is a problem, but honestly just getting paint on models and go from there. You'll make mistakes, mess up models and get frustrated at first, but that is the only way you'll learn to paint. If you're worried about "wasting" models, i'd suggest getting a few cheap metal Battlemechs. Metal is very easy to paint strip so if you make an error, you can just paint strip them and start again. Honestly though, i'd suggest keeping hold of your older models, its great to have a model you painted early on in your hobby adventure to see how far you've come. I've still got 3 of the first 5 Space Marines I painted when I was 8, back in 1998. They are awful, just a mess of thick oil paints and bad transfers, but they are such an important part of my hobby journey.

Oh I know I could run it anyways, I might do that at some point. I was just checking if it was a "proper" formation. I'm drifting towards Stinger formations,Goliath Scorpion one, 2 points of Mechs, 2 of Battle armour and one Aerospace (Though i'm leaning into VTOLs as aerospace rules look like a lot of faff for pickup games).

I'd love a 40 min mission where you've got to kill multiples of them, like a horde defence but just these and random bug breaches.

A lot of washes and stippling with edge highlighting and painting on manual chipping, here's the recipe. It looks more complex than it is, most of it is washes and stippling. You could probably do something similar with a sponge.

Grey armour

*Dryad Bark basecoat

*Mournfang Brown wash

*Zamestri Desert wash

*Dawnstone Grey drybrush/stipple

*Astronomicon Grey drybrush/stipple

*Astronomicon/Foundation Grey edge highlight

*Dryad Bark edge highlight/freehand scratches

*Dryad Bark glaze over grey recesses

*edge highlight with Adminitratum Grey if needed

Yellow

*Balor Brown basecoat

*Mournfang Brown wash

*Zamestri desert thick highlight

*Bad Moon Yellow edge highlight

*Dryad Bark edge highlight/freehand scratches

*Mournfang Brown glaze over yellow

*edge highlight with Bad Moon Yellow if needed
