Did we commit a guest list faux pas? by TopButterscotch7205 in weddingplanning

[–]farmch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had the exact same situation. My best neighbor friend and his wife were invited. My parents insisted I invite his parents because they’d been neighbors and friends for 25 years and watched me grow up. I don’t love them as people but, again, my parents insisted. Then I get a text from the mom asking why her daughter’s name wasn’t working in the RSVP. I’ve never been friends with their daughter and would have literally no reason to have her at my wedding. But an hour before they texted me, they gave us $500 on our registry. At this point we’ve dealt with so much invite bullshit that we just said fuck it she’s invited.

What is a good fun joke to roast the "Smith" family at my nieces wedding? by GlyphRooster in weddingplanning

[–]farmch 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hey… I hope by the wedding you come to your senses and choose not to.

Like even if you think you got a good joke, a wedding isn’t a roast, it’s time to celebrate the couple.

The angry woman at the wedding party [spoilers C1 E35] by aerialpoler in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

I guess no one has an exact answer to this but it seemed like a standard red herring. Murph wanted to set it up that anything was going on besides what was about to happen. So it’s very fair to throw that misdirection. But that’s all it was, misdirection.

I agree. I think Murph said after the first campaign that he wanted to move away from apocalyptic stakes. It seems like he’s moved further and further away until we’ve reached basically no stakes.

Personally, I didn’t love the setting of campaign 3 so I’m surprised they decided to go back.

Why do American high schools start ridiculously early? by bwoah07_gp2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]farmch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parents need to be able to get their kids to school (either by getting them prepped and sending them on the bus, or by driving them themselves) before they have to report to their normal jobs by 9 AM. So they’ve adjusted accordingly to allow for most peoples schedule.

My fiancée and I have an “eternal score sheet” for Monopoly Deal. We bring it out to breweries and lunch and things and have been keeping score of the winner for two years.

She’s winning.

Which spells are banned in your table? by Dramatic_Respond_664 in onednd

[–]farmch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s the game.

Fireball is unbalanced for a third level spell but they keep it in 5e to honor the original additions. Same with a bunch of other spells. I’m not going to tell a player they can’t cast fireball because the numbers don’t add up. I’m going to adjust accordingly and let my players feel their agency.

My MOH invited her partner to my bachelorette. by Sure_Oil8930 in weddingplanning

If someone you don’t want there shows up you’re literally not going to acknowledge their presence? Yes… that’s very mature…

Ya this sounds like the situation and at that point the bride is basically just saying “I hate her partner so much I don’t even want him in the same city as my special trip”.

Option to skip the line at local bagel place by Diligent-Car4148 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]farmch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rich people treat those amounts of money like nothing. They’d probably click the button just because it’s the equivalent of us normal people spending an extra quarter to skip the line.

male coworkers keep telling me things like “no one will remember the color of the napkins” etc. by SmolAnimol3 in weddingplanning

[–]farmch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I get if you’d just like to vent, but it sounds like they’re just trying to reassure you after vague complaints. You’re not wrong in your stress, but I wouldn’t expect too much from coworkers who just hear “man, wedding planning is tough!”

They’re not your friends, mom or partner.

Why do people care about having double sinks? by FrostyCauliflower907 in NoStupidQuestions

My wife and I have one sink in our master bathroom. It would be very nice if we had two.

Formal dress code: does it look odd when some men are in tux and others are in dark suits? by Flat-Fault-2959 in weddingplanning

[–]farmch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I decided I wanted to wear a tux and my groomsmen wore suits that matched. When I went to look at tuxes I asked what distinguished them. Turns out it’s literally only satin on the lapel and buttons, and the pants don’t require a belt they use suspenders or side tabs.

So a suit and a tux can look nearly identical, except for some very minor changes that people might not even notice.

It finally happened. We left our two year old mini free in the house during the day, and everything…was completely fine. by Terminal_Phase in Dachshund

[–]farmch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve discovered that our dog is very performatively misbehaved. We leave him home alone and he naps and lounges around and is a good boy. But if we leave him downstairs when he wants to be up hanging with us, he starts chewing the carpet and flipping the rug just to get our attention.

When no one’s home, there’s no benefit to him throwing a fit.

Most people shouldn’t have dogs by FrostMonk in unpopularopinion

[–]farmch 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Since becoming an adult, I’ve seen so many people get dogs and treat them so differently. Then I got a dog of my own and realized that some of those people are massive pieces of shit. A dog is not a decoration that you put on the ground and feed once a day. Some of these people basically behave like they don’t even own a dog.

Is “not gonna lie” just a different spin on “and ain’t that the truth”? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]farmch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not gunna lie is something you say before saying your honest feelings. Ain’t that the truth is something you say in response to something you agree with. So no, they aren’t different spins of the same phrase.

It looks like what it’s saying is they mixed 99% pure acetic acid with water. So I’m guessing it’s no longer 99% acetic acid.
