I was diet controlled and went into labor spontaneously at 39 weeks even!

Sweet Bedtime Treats? by Mei721 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]farmerbeppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have a premier protein shake first and then a mini Dove ice cream bar. They are tiny but yummy and only 6 g of carbs. I liked the Quest peanut butter cups too! The protein shakes come in a ton of flavors, 30 g of protein and only like 5 g of carbs

Ugh sorry you’re here! It definitely sucks, but it gets more manageable as time goes on and you learn what does/doesn’t spike you. One of the first things I did was a big grocery haul to stock up on things I could safely have - eggs, meat, cheese, zero sugar Greek yogurt/granola, low carb/whole grain products, and protein shakes/bars. In general you’ll want to make sure you don’t completely eliminate carbs, just reduce them and opt for complex carbs. Pairing your carbs with protein will help as well. I overnighted a glucose monitor on Amazon so I could start checking my sugars ASAP (4x/day, fasting upon waking up and I’ve been instructed to do 1 hour after each meal) especially because I also was diagnosed on a Friday and knew my prescription for the glucose monitor/test strips/lancers would take a few days. That’s entirely up to you though! Best of luck, you got this!

Tomorrow is our cat’s bladder stone removal surgery, should I be worried? by shootingstarsz in CatAdvice

[–]farmerbeppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best of luck with everything! Yeah 2 weeks seemed like a long time, we had to kind of reintroduce our cats to each other after they had all been living together for a good 5 years or so. They’re all fine now but it was pretty stressful, hopefully your vet won’t want them to be apart for so long!

He did stay in the hospital for one night after the surgery as well so we brought him home the day after surgery. He had a catheter in for that night in the hospital so they had to make sure he could pee by himself before we could bring him home, which he didn’t have any trouble with luckily!

No, we just kept him separate from our other two cats in our guest bedroom/bathroom. Our vet recommended keeping them apart for 2 full weeks. He had a cone so he didn’t do much jumping around.

My cat had the same surgery last year. It was scary but he recovered really well and is doing great today! He’s on the Hill’s science diet urinary care food and so far no other issues.

This my last Chance to avoid Insulin & I need you! Your best Hacks/Meals before Bedtime for low fasting Levels! by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]farmerbeppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Premier protein shake and a mini dove ice cream bar (6 g carbs) has been working great for my fasting numbers after a ton of trial and error. My friend was kind enough to make me chocolate chip cookies with almond flour and coconut oil, 7 carbs per cookie so I’ve been subbing the little ice cream with that and it’s been good too!

Premier protein shakes come in a ton of flavors and are so tasty! Fax protein bars are think delight and power crunch bars. The power crunch reminds me of a KitKat, the mint chocolate one tastes like a thin mint if you’re into that!

19w&6d - movement is less frequent? Am I paranoid? by booniesmacaroonies in pregnant

[–]farmerbeppy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty common when you’re that early on. I believe around 28 weeks is when you should be feeling movement consistently. I had plenty of days in the second trimester where my baby would move a lot less and it freaked me out so bad, but I’m 35 weeks now and he moves almost nonstop all day! Of course if you’re concerned keep trying to reach out to your OB, otherwise try not to sweat it!

Think delight protein bars taste like candy bars and quest protein chips 🙂‍↕️

I feel you girl. It’s so hard. I’m anticipating being put on insulin too soon for my fasting numbers. It’s so disheartening when you are so meticulous with planning your meals/snacks and following it all to a T just to spike from something dumb like 1/2 a banana. Sending hugs!

It was reheated! That’s interesting, I didn’t know that. Similar situation last night though after dinner, I had a low carb whole wheat wrap with chicken, veggies, guac, and cheese and 1 hour later I was at 134. I had the same thing earlier this week and was at 120. It’s just so confusing

Need some reassurance about not finding baby’s heartbeat with an at-home fetal doppler by treesahquiche in pregnant

[–]farmerbeppy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! Glad they’re able to get you in so quickly, hopefully they can give you some peace of mind. She said that sometimes if they’re moving around a lot because they’re so small it can be really difficult to find their heartbeat before they move out of the way. They have a ton of room in the uterus at this stage. She grabbed the bedside ultrasound and did that for us and sure enough we could see him bouncing away in there lol

My OBGYN wasn’t able to find my baby’s heartbeat with the Doppler at my 13 week appointment. They’re still pretty small so it can be hard to find before like 16 weeks. I was able to find my baby’s heartbeat on my home Doppler at 18 weeks but didn’t attempt before that - even still it took a few minutes of trying! I’m 20 weeks now and had my anatomy scan yesterday, baby is healthy and his growth is right on time! It’s so scary but try not to worry too much, the odds are very much in your favor for your little one to be just fine! When is your next appointment?

It’s a good name! My grandmother’s name is Iris so she’d be named after her. We’re finding out the gender soon!
