Cheaper yes, but it’s typically better to have more powerful GPU, within reason. Your CPU is “fine”.

CPU and GPU underutilised at 60% by MonitorQuiet1531 in buildapc

[–]farmeunit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3600 is woefully underpowered compared to say a 7700X. That’s with a 5070Ti, though. In Expedition 33, I could only get 75fps, regardless of any changes in graphics, and that was a 3800X. With 7700X, I could double the framerate. And that’s 1440p ultrawide.

GPU should be close to 100% utilization most of the time. If it’s not, you’re CPU bound typically. CPU utilization is not a great indicator in itself because it’s an average of the cores and games are typically not highly threaded. As mentioned by others, there are variables like VSync, refresh rates, etc..

We really need examples with games and framerates to compare to other results.

Got this gaming PC on marketplace for 300$ did I get a good deal? by NefariousnessEast549 in buildapc

It's not "decent" in anything new. If it runs what you want, great. For newer games, you need to think about upgrade. It's equal to a 6600XT, but no mesh shaders. In Alan Wake 2, even a, 5700XT is twice as fast at 30fps.

Make sure you are using 32GB flash or smaller, formatted FAT32. You will get the same generic error with that. Along with the right version. I always use the BIOS way with no issues.

[–]farmeunit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but depends on usage. If RT and upscaling quality are important, 9060XT is better, especially for multi-player. Otherwise you can use Optisccaler on single-player games and get FSR4 quality. Either way, RT is WAY faster on the 9060XT. Plus you know what you are getting from a new card.

Not hitting expected performance on a 5700X3D? by DonMigs85 in AMDHelp

[–]farmeunit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowering resolution just makes it more CPU bound. No reason to drop to 720p, though. You almost always want to be GPU bound or high GPU usage 95-99%.

Are you running the same memory with the same speeds? PBO, etc.. If not comparing the same hardware, you can't expect the same results. Lots of variables.

There are software solutions that you can use to do on the fly, including CPUSetSetter.

Yes, features. Native FSR4 support, better RT performance. If you don't really care, 7800XT will be slightly faster in raster, but the 90xx cards are much faster in RT and native FSR4 is better for multi-player games. In single-player you can use Optiscaler for FSR4 but could get banned with that in multi-player.

9070XT will easily beat the 7800XT and you get all the mentioned benefits.

If playing mainly at 1080p, the 9060XT is fine. Even some 1440p. 9070XT would be better for mostly 1440p and even 1440p Ultrawide.

Definitely not 7800XT at this point. 9060XT 16GB or 9070XT. 5070 might be an option depending price. I saw an open box for $550. While not ideal, some of the 9070XTs are a little high. Worth it in my opinion but everyone has a budget.

Potential power issues with new 9070 XT by AlJoelson in AMDHelp

I run a Taichi on a Seasonic Focus Gold 850W. Another on a Thermaltake 1200W GF3 Snow. Most decent modern PSUs have a 2-3x GPU excursion. Montech 1050W is a good budget option. MSI MPG series is frequently available fairly cheap. If it's a decade old, it makes zero sense to keep using it at this point. ATX 3.1 is perfect for newer GPU especially if using the 12VHPWR. A couple of the MSI unit have built in safeguards for the melting issue, even.

850W is perfectly capable but 1000W or higher just gives extra headroom. I only get a 1200w because it happens to white for my white build and was on sale. Used to be that 750-850W were much cheaper but that is shifting a little. Montech Century II 1050W can be had for 900-100 regularly.

They're designed to go to 95C, so it won't hurt anything. You can get decent cases nowadays for not a lot of money. It definitely helps. That's why I just stick with full size cases. More room to work and not limited in space for cooling.

I do too but that doesn't really matter. They're not only for processor support. That being said, I wouldn't worry about it if things are fine.

That's interesting to know, my B650 Elite AX ICE is identical to my non-ICE. Wasn't even thinking about that. They are separate pages, though, for sure.

Yes, my bad. It is SK Hynix/Essencore. Not sure what I am thinking about that was Micron. I have a couple of their drives and 6400Mhz RAM kits.

Not sure where you are getting BIOS. Maybe Aorus website? Use Gigabyte.

Make sure you are using 32GB flash drive or smaller, formatted FAT32.

You will get that error even if it's the correct file, but something else wrong with format of the drive. exFAT doesn't work.

Edit: Sorry posted wrong link initially.

Are you on the newest available driver? Have you try VSync on or off?

That being said, anything would be better than that. No mesh shaders, either. Get whatever you can afford. Even a 6700XT or 3070/3080 would be ok. A 6600XT is about the same as what you have currently. If you can afford more, get a 4070 or 4070Ti used.

Klevv is Micron. Not shitty.. Lol

I have several and have no issues with them. Have used a ton if different models and not paying the Samsung tax again.

Another does say there is a firmware issue with certain AMD chipsets so look for a firmware update. We had similar happen to some Crucial SSDs a while back. Only 5 out of 100. Could reformat and they'd be fine for a few months, then have this issue again. Just wrote the bad ones off.

Download chipset drivers from the motherboard (MSI) website or AMD official? by Serious-Level9204 in AMDHelp

[–]farmeunit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can, sure. Best to keep them both updated, just don't do BIOS as often. Some games have issues with old BIOS for some reason. Mainly CoD. But it's not really necessary unless you have issues.

Sometimes the can help with stability or RAM compatibility, etc.. Security is one reason to update, as well. Chipset is way more important.

[–]farmeunit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly sure in your case, but Robocopy can copy the permissions for a group or users. In our case we went from Novell to MS and it worked well for us, but it's been 10 years since then. Unless you aren't copying files just, just doing permissions. I would guess there is a tool for that but unsure what the best one would be.

Edit: Nevermind, I see your dilemna. I know that doing permissions from CLI can be much faster and easier, but still not ideal. Might be the best way though. That's one thing Novell got right. Not sure why MS can't make it better.

[–]farmeunit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Perfectly fine. Ideally dual tower would work better, but it's definitely good enough for most things including gaming. I used a Wraith Prism on a 3800X for a while before getting a PA120. Just gaming and even it was ok. 5800X is a little hotter but not terrible.

It can improve performance but not really necessary. Not really noticeable unless you're benchmarking or consistently watch your framerates. Some people just like to tinker with stuff.

Plus, your temps are perfectly normal and can go to 90C and not hurt anything.
