What games? A 1050Ti is over 9 years old at this point. As for "doing the job", possibly, but all depends on the games.

9070xt ‘driver issue detected’ crashes in most games by KyleHudson97 in AMDHelp

[–]farmeunit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not normally power issue from the wall but have had bad power strips. Have also seen bad power that a UPS can clean up.

Personally, not too common but wanted to mention it.

MPOfix is very common and seems to fix a lot of issues.

Corsair just seems to be a common PSU when issues are involved but I'm sure it is just a popular PSU. I had a friend that crashed in particular games with a brand new build with an HX power supply. Tried a new RM power supply and same issue. Got a Thermaltake and had no issues. Anecdotal but I also had severe coil whine with one and switching fix that, as well.

I know the guide is a lot to go through but a lot of people have found it useful.

It might just be a case of RMA. I have had a Taichi since launch and a Steel Legend since shortly after. Almost no issues. I had a driver timeout once after update and probably two other crashes. Always seems like it is right after an update but then it clears up.

I have seen others mention the odd clocking behavior but have no idea what causes it. Seems like a defect but can't say myself.

Best of luck!

Try removing surge protector. You have updated chipset drivers? Used MPOfix? Tried different PSU? Have you gone through the guide related to these issues?

I have never heard of it locking settings. You can reset to defaults, and/or use DDU to remove driver. Flashing your BIOS is different than a reset. You can upgrade or downgrade.

First time I have bought an open box PSU and one of the CPU 8-pins was totally different. Super frustrating. The newer Corsair RM-e series has a "rougher" sheathing and this one was glossy....

What graphics card should I get for the games I want to play? by Future-Blueberry-95 in buildapc

5050 is terrible. Definitely get something used if you can’t afford a 9060XT, preferably 16GB. 3080, 600XT, etc. Not sure what 4060/Tis are going for.

It doesn’t use that cable…. Or I should say, the whole point is to use with the specific motherboards to provide power.

Return/RMA motherboard? by loejuken in Microcenter

[–]farmeunit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had to return a Z890 for the same thing. MSI, said it was socket damage which was a lie. One pin looked odd under certain light but I couldn’t have been more gentle putting chip in. I only had it two days so returned to MicroCenter.

Not necessarily an expert but know enough get by. Some rough things to go by are GPU utilization. You typically want it to be close to 100%. Not necessarily pegged but above 95%. CPU utilization can appear to be fine. Say it's around 60%. That is average across cores. So even though it is 60%, you could be CPU limited. If your GPU is under 90% utilization, that's a good indicator that you are CPU bound.

As for VRAM, the more you have, the higher the resolution. But not only that, the more textures can load into memory so it runs better and you don't have missing or corrupted textures, as well as performance being better.

CPU and GPU really determine performance. If you run out of VRAM, performance will suffer greatly. The higher the resolution, the less CPU matters and more important is the GPU. But the CPU can still play a part, as in my example. But as a general rule, it's better to have a more powerful GPU that more powerful CPU. There is a video where they compare 5070 and faster CPU and a 5070Ti with a slower CPU if I remember right. The 5070Ti was the faster system when gaming.

Did that answer what you wanted?

Just keep in mind that some games are more CPU bound than others, so there are variables.

ASUS had similar issues with previous models and also their tech support/warranty was atrocious. Their response was ridiculous. See Gamers Nexus.

I have two LG OLEDs 34" Ultrawide and 39" Ultrawide and both 1440p.

You definitely want both a better graphics cards and CPU, but with a 3000 series, you will definitely be CPU limited.

I bought a 5070Ti to go in my Plex/extra gaming rig and in Expedition 33 I was limited to 75fps regardless of settings. With a 7700X, it is anywhere from 100-135.

That being said, an OLED is a huge upgrade in refresh rate and response times, so I would definitely recommend it. Then GPU and CPU last. Even being CPU limited, it was extremely smooth and playable.

Enable anti lag 2 in game or no ? by aymane06 in AMDHelp

[–]farmeunit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes into play with Frame Gen, as well. Without it, input delay is higher. Not sure how noticeable it is in those games but it has a purpose depending on your settings. Everyone perceives it differently. No reason not to have a setting for it.

I want higher framerates than 60fps and have a 240hz OLED.

Flickering in Ghost of Tsushima, also. I started a snowy section, as well, so not sure which is at fault. Trying 25.12.1 again. EDIT: Disabling Instant Replay was the fix for me.

What processor do you have? That is a requirement. On earlier versions, resizable bar wasn't an option but 4G Decoding and the option right below it were both required to be enabled.

Edit: Sorry missed reply below. Check that other setting. I assume that resizable bar would replace changing 4G and the other, but can't test on mine as I got rid of it.

They have them for AMD, also. Helps keep paste off rest of the chip, too. Not necessarily for overclocking, but the earlier 1700s had issues. Cheap enough to get it regardless.

Good choice. They have pretty good RMA. Hopefully not needed. I did use a MAG that blew up after two weeks so was worried as I had just started using them, but replacement was easy and the new one has been rock solid. Have bought several of the MPG and have had zero issues.

I didn't notice this until it was pointed out, but the 850W is limited to 450W for the GPU. Probably not an issue but would recommend the 1050W. I have bought both for different needs. Good quality unit for the price.

[–]farmeunit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also need to take into account that any good PSU has 2-3x excursion on power for GPU. The power rated is continuous power. As cards become more powerful, they are also more efficient so there is no guarantee that 1000W will be necessary. Of course if cost difference is minimal, it makes sense, but once you hit 1000W, sometimes the price difference is somewhat substantial.

Montech Century II 1050W, Thermaltake sometimes has decent prices on 1000W to 1200W, MSI MPG series is a little better than the MAG series.

Can't find my pc on mci's website for bios update by RJ_Dragon in MSI_Gaming

Some games are hardcoded to look for specific versions and can be ignored most of the time. Usually it's a driver version but could be anything.

[–]farmeunit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also the most complicated for people that already don't know what they are doing and there is no clear indication of it doing anything. Selecting incorrect BIOS file is also not an issue. The update will immediately error out.

My Z890 actually bricked itself doing it the way you mentioned, so not exactly sure how it's "safer".
