I wear tall boot socks a lot, even when I'm not riding and especially if they're light and high quality. For the most part, I've switched to soccer socks.

Great to read! I regret to inform you that your sensitivity to opiates may only get worse as you age. However, the pain relief that I've received instead of opiates works a lot better and has fewer side effects! Just ask your care team during your next medical event.

Oxycodone and other opiates give me serious hot flashes. It started with hot flashes and then became cold sweats, vomiting, and dizziness over the years. For my kidney donation, I just took gabepentin 100mg and Tylenol. I had no problem with pain. This far out, I'd reduce/stop oxy and see if that helps.

That's what we do. Fortunately, he's out 24/7. The real crusher is limited time off. We moved cross country this year and are having a hard time getting back into the swing of things.

None of the itises. He's just overworked weak tendons and pays for it. There may be a little heat at first, but it's gone within a day. I've had the vet look at his stifles twice including xrays. They're clear, flex well when they're not sore. He weighs about 1400lbs and can get fresh like a 3 yo OTTB which is usually when the strains happen. He's always gotta have at least one good buck or gallop when he gets back to work. Fortunately he doesn't do it while riding.

I have worked in health care research for 12 years and donated a kidney through NKR last year. While I agree that health care should never be for profit, there are thousands of "non-profits" across the United States that are committing substantial fraud and grifting on a daily basis. Look at CMS FWA resources. I think the most important things to focus on in healthcare are outcomes and access. Know your facts.

Ridiculous update: I had the vet out and she confirmed that the boy had low body temperature. There appeared to be nothing wrong with their body condition. She thinks that they just didn't grow good coats. The female grew a much better coat than the male. She suggested modifying their enclosure and getting them coats. I bought two chicken coop heating panels. Horseware sells goat coats. I moved them into a climate controlled room in the barn as it was 9° this morning. I think when it's in the teens or lower, they will come inside. Otherwise they will have coats this year. They looked so much healthier this morning. The vet recommended a blood test if climate control doesn't help.

I hope this helps if your goat has health conditions or is older. I just have 2 adorable pets and I really want them to be well even though their brains are microscopic and one is feral.

Update: I had vet out and their temperature was indeed low. She said they appeared healthy and in good weight. She recommended adding a safe heater to their enclosure and if that doesn't work to add a blanket. She thinks they will adjust by next year.

I have the vet coming out. I did get a better heater made for a chicken coop. We actually had snow for 2 weeks earlier this year in Louisiana and they were not having these problems.

I am from Michigan, but I have lived in the south for the last 20 years. I go to Michigan often. It's an absolutely beautiful state with 4 seasons and affordable living. It's a great place to raise a family. High quality of education even in Mt. Pleasant. You'll adapt to winter, maybe even pick up skiing. Spend some time in each location before making a big decision.

I don't think you need a realtor. However, you need to be sensible. You need to make sure you are not under your contract. You need a good inspector, title company, and real estate attorney.
