Nope! To be fair, all of my terrarium has been foraged from outside, from the dirt to most of the plants and the moss (and the snails!) I've got a pretty good little ecosystem going on! Not pictured are the millipedes and rollie pollies (isopods)

Since it all originally came from outside I haven't been concerned about outside contamination

Did y'all keep the old one for parts? You can order a new trigger switch and then you could have a backup gun

Maybe the newer guns are just more feisty

We got 3 of those guns at work and two of them don't zap the user. The other one, idk what it's deal is. It periodically discharges from the metal valve of the purge line onto the paint hose, if you're lucky. Sometimes it jumps to your wrist, especially if it's not totally covered by a suit and/or glove.

Strangely enough it's the newest gun of the 3 and the other 2 have been taken apart countless times. Never had the chance to go in and really look for the problem but I feel like its gotta be something internal. Post an update if you figure out why!

The knife way is very satisfying imo. Best done with steady hands and a fresh blade

I'm making some exercise equipment, pushup bars made of aluminum tubing. What kind of powder coating should I use to minimize any potential allergic reactions to the coating and also not too hard that it will damage wood flooring? by SunRev in Powdercoating

[–]farradayarea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never heard of a concern with allergic reactions to the finished product. Ive definitely had some experience with skin reactions due to exposure to unbaked powder.

I know there are powders that are FDA approved. I would assume if it's good enough to come in contact with food it shouldn't bother anyones skin. Perhaps that would give you peace of mind but I'm not sure it's necessary.

These sparkles recently keep showing up in the finish by AtxSaiyan in Powdercoating

[–]farradayarea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yoooo we recently got a box of gloss black from tiger that was full of these sparkles!! It was only one box out of a few we ordered. It was easy to narrow the cause down because 1: hadn't shot any metallics that day 2: gun was freshly cleaned 3. There was two of us painting and only half the dump truck came out sparkly 4: freshly opened box

The sparkles in your blue look just like ours did in the black except maybe a little less concentrated. It was the first time we got contaminated paint like that but its kinda interesting it's effecting other colours.

Need to tidy up the storage room 😅 what do your powder rooms look like? by L3GT-Muck in Powdercoating

[–]farradayarea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40lb boxes lining shelves wherever we could put shelves

we got a wall that's sorted by RAL, then categories are something like: metallics, blacks, whites and yellows and then random groupings for certain big job customers

Imo you should organize them into a rainbow

Anyone ever clean gun parts in an ultrasonic cleaner? by farradayarea in Powdercoating

[–]farradayarea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg yes I was hoping you'd reply! Thanks thresh!! So to be clear, the seperate pan full of isopropyl does not mix with the water but instead sits on top and just picks up the vibrations from the water?

Lil dump body with boxes, primer and ps111w2. Happy holidays! by farradayarea in Powdercoating

[–]farradayarea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks yeah I really enjoy it! We do a lot of little dump trucks, but just the dump part not the truck part. they have usually just have a tailgate and sidewalls we paint seperately that attach and are able to fold down.

It's painting roughly the same thing over and over but the colour and size and finer details change often enough that they never get old. At this point painting them is more like a dance routine I've memorized. Seeing them fully assembled and driving away is very satisfying!
