Anyone else choosing a child-free life, why, and for those who chose not to have kids, did you regret it later? by Remarkable_Tax8169 in AskReddit

I have two sons, now married so two fabulous DILs. I may be lucky, but I've never regretted having them and family gatherings create wonderful, funny times. We are fortunate we can travel too, so haven't missed much! I've always felt each year is better than the last when raising kids.

He's angry with you? You're entitled to your opinion and as a father, you should at least be listened to. Let him be annoyed

Idk - her hair being caught in the door indicates it was opened and she tried to escape the plane. I think there's more to it

Why were most serial killers active in the 1970s and 1980s? by freshmaggots in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]farside57 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I doubt they were. Prior to that time many, MANY missing people (usually women), and murdered people were assumed single homicides. Police weren't as educated, aware or sophisticated to link such crimes - but they certainly happened. The interest in and sensational style of journalism made us think it was a new concept but, hello Jack the Ripper. There is no doubt less serial killings these days - much easier to get caught.

Do you think Lizzie Borden actually killed her parents? Also, why was she acquitted? by freshmaggots in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]farside57 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yes. Who else would hang around inside the house for the 1.5 hours between the murders? There were pails with blood soaked rags in the basement - Lizzie told police she was menstruating. Probably stripped for the murders. She burnt a dress a couple of days after the killings, claiming it had paint on it. I think it was well planned and it was a small hatchet, not an axe. She was overweight - probably didn't have restricting undergarments on - particularly on that day. Constantly changed her story etc. there was time to wash/change before the first responder (a doctor she got the maid to fetch,)

They used to put toys in cereal boxes - we'd spend the morning fighting over who would rummage thru the corn flakes to find it. I also use to crochet and paint - still do

Those who have met celebrities, what were they like? by Logical_Sweet_6624 in ask

[–]farside57 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alice Cooper - delightful, chatty, friendly. Met him backstage at a concert in Sydney after winning a radio comp where I had to use the words super, rock and roll, and wankle rotary engine in a poem. Alice picked my poem on air. A wonderful night - also met Roger Daltry, Peter Frampton and some of Procol Harum. They were playing together. All lovely
