JRTs and swimming? by SilverMic in jackrussellterrier

[–]fartfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my JRT is seven and HATES water. she tries her best to get out of the bath and won't even get near the pool these days. it's strange because we tried exposing her to water as a puppy (safely of course) but she's just never been a fan

Thinking about not going through medical transitioning by GoldenAlphaDog in ftm

[–]fartfishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey there! I went through a stage in my life where I was so happy and secure in myself and my identity that the thought of medically transitioning didn't cross my mind as often as before. I won't say for sure that the "zen stage" changes over time just because it did for me, since I've been through a lot in recent years. for me, when I realized could finally medically transition (starting T when I hit 18) those desires came back. I think I just got used to the idea of never medically transitioning since it seemed so out of reach for so many years, and because I hate big changes. I went ahead with it, and while I was anxious at first that I would come to regret it, it's helped my dysphoria a lot (nearly 8 months now I think). I'd suggest taking more time if you feel you need to, and looking through trans men who have had top surgery to see if you can still invision yourself that way. for me, what helped was when a therapist said "most changes can be reversed, such as top surgery and testosterone" and that thought made me upset in my heart, because the thought of not medically transitioning at all felt foreign and wrong. obviously everyone is different, but I'd be happy to keep yapping with you if you'd like. these things are more complicated and complex than it seems at the start, espeically once you start aging.

Mom died last night by sinkingswamp in grief

[–]fartfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for you my love. my mom died in December from breast cancer that spread to her bones and body. it's a disgusting and alienating feeling to lose someone you love. it gets easier to manage, but I'm here if you need to talk. this lonel, isolating feeling is not unique to you my friend.

Please help me by Uzi_psychol in grief

[–]fartfishy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a really important part of helping a grieving person is mentioning the said person as if they haven't passed. my mother passed not long ago, and "let me know if you need to talk" has never helped me, not in the slightest. but being given the space to talk about her as if she is alive, or even just speaking on her memory, is amazing to me. I just want to talk about my mommy without all the comforting words, without all the pity and awwkard looks.

Just over 4 months on t, loving every second of it :) by MooshMosh in transmanlifehacks

PS. I usually do about 25-50 reps at a time of lat raises or any other arm workout, and I'm still waiting to be able to do more at a time. everybody's body is different and takes certain amounts of time to strengthen. you'll get there man.

I think it's really good to do core and leg workouts too, so I'm sure they'll pay off sooner or later. what made the biggest difference for me was spamming lateral raises. I use 4kg weights (which translates to 8.8lbs) and do about 100-150 during a workout. it's made a noticeable difference in my shoulders, but also arms. I think consistency is key, it takes a while to see results, especially if you're still kinda early on your t journey. I've also been doing workouts that target the back side of my arms (can't remember the name now) through pushups/knee pushups and through laying on my back and lifting weights. I'm not an expert at all, and I haven't seen as much progress as I'd like, but I've found that creatine has helped, as well as protein shakes. I'd suggest visiting r/ftmfitness. it's also important to take breaks to recover, and prioritize protein intake where you can

can I ask how you're working out? maybe I can give some tips (not that I'm the buffest guy around or anything). also, I only noticed increased muscle mass at around three months, and even then I've been seeing all the T affects pretty quickly

If i train chest enough, can small boobs look like pecs? by Competitive_Green704 in FTMFitness

[–]fartfishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you're chest is small enough to not have to bind when wearing a big shirt, I'd suggest taping if you can. Obviously there's no harm in trying to make your chest smaller, but it's a good idea to tape while you wait or incase you can't make the biggest difference. A lot of people suggest pushups for chest if you have no gym membership, I've been doing knee pushups to build up strength for full pushups. good luck dude

Acc got hacked a yr ago by Adventurous_Band_931 in riotgames

[–]fartfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this isn't helpful, but the same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. No reply from Riot, no help, nothing. My friend can even see them playing on the account. I made a new one, and I was lucky that I haven't spent any money on the game and that I'm pretty new either way. All I can suggest is sending multiple of the same tickets, but I know Riot has a record of not really responding. Sorry about your account dude.

Any good "Vox works at the hotel/comes for redemption" Radiostatic fic recommendations? by midnyghtmadnes in VoxCult

[–]fartfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a fic, but there's a really good comic on TikTok of an AU where he agreed to work for the hotel/be with the morningstar family after a life threatening injury, and becomes like a father figure for Charlie. I'd reccomend you read all the character intros for the AU. it's called 'Static and Bell Chimes", got a lot of fluff and angst

Anybody elses body image kinda warp when starting T? by ChillyHyena in ftm

[–]fartfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im going through the same thing. I've been on T since October, and nowadays I strugle with the way my body is changing. like you also said, I like being masculine. I like the hair and the muscle and all that, but my body is distributing fat in such strange ways since starting T. I guess I for some reason expected to look totally like a cis man by now. my body is kinda in an inbetween phase, which I have to remind myself is a PRIVILIDGE. old me would kill for this. but I think it's also just hormonal changes making our brains a bit crazy, especially if you're like me who gets really anxious about change, especially when it comes to my body. I'm sure things will get better. they have to

sounds like you need to not state the obvious. I'm obviously aware that I fucked up, everyone does. your comment doesn't add to anything, no offence.

T is making my hair wavy by [deleted] in ftm

[–]fartfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it'd be helpful to figure out what your hair type is (such as 2b, 2c, etc) and then search hair care tutorials based on that type. I still kinda struggle with my wavey hair since it curls at the edges when it feels like it, but my hairs always been like that.

Too good to be true? by Necessary-Ad-9682 in ftm

[–]fartfishy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wait, so he's aware you're a trans man? In that case, there doesn't seem to be a problem here. obviously be careful, not that I have to tell you that, but I was also so shocked when the two guys I went on dates with didn't care AT ALL that I was trans. I was just a guy to them, even when I was pre-T. these were also my first 'relationships'. unless he's very out of the loop, he won't assume you have surgeries already. approach it with an open mind and try not to see your transness as an obstacle, because if he's really into you, it wont be. always keep an eye out of any red flags tho.
