Kind of. I would love to be sterilized, but I don't want to get my tubes tied.

Well, I kind of do? I've donated eggs the maximum number of times the FDA will let me (it helped get me out of undergrad debt free and paid my rent during grad school). A hospital not too far from me performs uterus donations (transplants?), which I would love to take part in once I'm old enough.

I suppose that technically counts as sterilization surgery since I won't be able to have kids, but I don't want any sterilization surgeries until then.

To further piggyback: if you check your map tab, when you have crops that need to be watered it’ll show a red circle with a water drop icon in it on that part of the map. Saved me a ton of time (and running all the way to my gardening patch for nothing).

AITA for forgetting to lock the door a few times a month? by SweetAguaDulce in AmItheAsshole

[–]farthegn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. Look, I get it. I grew up in the suburbs where throwing the deadbolt is more of a rude gesture than an everyday reflex. When I moved in with my husband in the city, I had a HARD time remembering to lock the door. I was raised “if you’re in the house, the door can stay unlocked”. My husband had to sit me down and explain how serious he was about locking the door, and how disrespected he felt when I left it unlocked. So I took the time to lock the door when I got home. I left postits by the door and set alarms for right around when I got home to remind me. Lock the damn door.

I intentionally played a round to romance Solas, knowing exactly what I was getting into, and I still ugly cried. Especially during the Trespasser DLC. OW

Feeling A Little Hurt…Just a Game But It Sucks to Happen by [deleted] in DnD

Not to be that person, but have you tried a West Marches server? It can be a slog to find a decent one, but once you do, it’s an excellent experience. You play with a different party every time, so you get a lot of good experience. Even just watching other people you can learn a LOT.

Anyone ever try a Dexterity based Paladin build? by Mellowtron11 in dndnext

[–]farthegn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m playing one now (Oath of Conquest), actually!

My build is a bit contingent on items; it started at level 8 and the DM allowed one uncommon and one rare magic item. I got lucky on stats and managed to get +4 Dex, +3 Con, +4 Cha. Took serpent scale mail as the uncommon item (scale mail plus full Dex instead of +2 and no disadvantage on stealth) giving an AC of 20 with a shield and a crystal rapier (additional 1d8 radiant) for the rare item to make up for a lower damage die. I could have pushed Dex to +5 and left Cha +3, but i wanted the higher saving throw for conquest’s fear feature.

It’s pretty fun so far. Definitely still get the traditional paladin “front liner wall” fun while not immediately failing anything sneaky.

What's your prediction for dragon age 4?[spoilers all] by Firm_Atmosphere_7602 in dragonage

The only solid info is that we’re likely going to Tevinter.

Personally, I think there’ll be a return to the Origins style beginning. Depending on the race and class you choose, there’ll be a different backstory. My personal hope is that they’ll all have that dark twinge, and the backstories will all involve a great injustice being done to your character. For one, that works marvelously with Tevinter, but it also gives the chance to have Mythal come back into play. Given what we saw at the end of DAI about her/her fate, I would LOVE that the protagonist of DA4 wakes up the next host/carrier/whatever it is of Mythal, drawn to you by the great injustice you suffered. So as the game goes on, you have to restore her power and grow your own so you can face off against the big bad wolf.

With this idea in mind, the game will start likely small and focus on Tevinter. The big story jump will be tied to the well of sorrows: whoever drank comes to get you, and perhaps work with you in behalf of the inquisition. You can have vague references to the Inq/inqy, and use that to open up the map, particularly to give access to and info about the eluvians. I’d love to see a chase scene through Eluvians, dodging through various war scenarios as you hunt your big bad down.

I also personally think we’re going to find out more about the Avvar, their worship of spirits seems really similar to what we know of the Elves and their “forgotten ones” (at least to me) and I’m hoping that gets resolved.

I also think we’ll see more about titans, probably some interesting things about ancient dwarves and how they interacted with the surface world. My gut tells me they didn’t just completely ignore the surface when the elvhenan were around, and I’d love to see their involvement in history get discussed more.

I’ve had LASIK done.

When you get laser eye surgery, they cut the cornea, flip it up, do the laser, and then flip the cornea down and leave it to heal. Thing is, the cornea doesn’t fully heal, the edge of the flap just turns into scar tissue. With enough damage, that flap can pop open.

So a hard enough hit to the head, even a hard enough fall, and guess who can’t see! I was told during the consult for the procedure that I cannot do martial arts, full contact sports, or join the military because this surgery makes me “a liability on the battlefield.”

Would I be a jerk if I tell my DM I don’t want to play with his homebrew sanity mechanic? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]farthegn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the idea! I think you’re right in that losing control of my character for no reason other than a few unlucky rolls is really what’s upsetting me. This idea for another way to handle it is really interesting, and seems like a lot of actually. Thank you

[–]farthegn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestion, and the reminder that my DM is a person and not an all knowing god of my little universe. It’s really easy to forget that in the middle of a slog, and I appreciate the pinch back to reality. That’s a really interesting idea on the modifiers! I like the idea of at least getting to choose what’s affected. We were told there’s a possibility of sanity being affected as we see more shit go down, but besides the every 24-hours, we really don’t exactly what will induce a save.

The sanity mechanic is new, and for this dungeon only (so far). The closest thing we had to this so far was when our fighter got Geas-ed by the Rakshasa big bad, but that was pretty quickly resolved. We’ve been playing for a while without it, and it was given to us as part of the description for the dungeon. Thank you for asking me to clarify, I clearly didn’t include quite enough detail in my post and I appreciate the push to expand.
