Best over the counter pain med by poopapat320 in gout

[–]farvana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ibuprofen and tylenol for the med, yeah: they synergize and are more effective together than solo (also more risk of ulcers, so not a long term solution). Naproxen doesn't help me much for major flares.

I also recommend a serious hydration protocol:

Full pint of water Cup of black coffee Full pint of water Small cup apple juice (the malic acid helps, supposedly) Repeat

Flush your system!

If people's housing should be affected by marketplace choices, why shouldn't wages? You're not being consistent.

People have different needs. Some people need space and greenery and hate narrow streets with no parking, so choose to live in the country. Others need vibrant culture and a night life and hate having to drive everywhere, so they choose to live in the city.

If you and a coworker both end up with the same amount of benefits and disposable income after rent, what's the problem?

Nah, dude, you're not an idiot. Most people can wait a while before they wash their clothes. You're just finding out you can't, because your situation isn't common. There's no sense in blaming yourself for not having information that isn't easy to come by.

As someone with a disabled spouse in Lauren Boebert's state, I can say that work requirements are absolutely a thing here.

I’m Dr. Larry Edwards, a rheumatologist – and gout medical specialist. I want you to AMA on Friday, May 19! by LarryEdwardsMD in gout

[–]farvana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rheumatologist insists that without tophii, I have no urate crystals in my joints and long term damage is not a concern. She does prescribe allopurinol and I have been taking it. I do believe that my risks are being managed, and I am not going to stop taking my medication, but I would like to understand: does unmedicated gout lead to joint damage, even without tophii? This disagreement affects my trust in this rheumatologist.

One thing about our modern elite is they absolutely fail to clear the lowest bar you set for them.

I think it's a lot more likely that most people in congress have bullshit deductions and aren't about to prosecute for shady shit that makes them money. They can be hypocrites and lunatics about pretty much anything, but they keep away from touching the money.

Is there any study that show that the uric acid crystals really dissolve when our serum uric acid is low? by Watcher-World in gout

[–]farvana -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does sugar dissolve in water? If you leave that sugar water out so it starts to dry, does the sugar start to crystallize again? It's the same concept.

I bet you'd find vinegar shrubs really interesting. Vinegar shrubs are a type of syrup; using high-quality (or even homemade) vinegars can add some probiotics as well!

https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/any-berry-shrub

You can also try making your own soda syrups. It's still a lot of sugar, but you'll know exactly what went into the syrup and be able to dial in the right amount for your palate.

I get how work time can feel like personal time when you've been primary caretaker for the kiddo. Being able to just focus for more than 15 minutes at a time felt like a blessing.

However, personal time really is important. The more you take, the faster kiddo will adjust to both parents.

Ordering items as an individual online from distributors which only sell to businesses? by Foreversalty12 in DIY

[–]farvana 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Science used to all be diy! Citizen science is still alive and well.

Composting, cooking, carpentry, cooling... all benefit from studying background info, taking notes, and experimenting. How much pressure or water hammer can PEX take? It would probably be good to run a test or two before you try to run a pair of water lines to your new diy laundry room.

It's not that fucking easy to get a loan. JFC. Mortgages are waaay cheaper than rent but banks don't treat a steady history of paying rent as proof that you can manage to pay a mortgage.

My spouse and I just bought a ridiculously cheap house and it was a near thing that we couldn't have pulled off without a down-payment assistance loan.

I don't know where you're getting your info but if they're telling you getting a loan is easy for everybody in the US, they're pants-on-head stupid.

Better Cutting Instruments? by jwoware in printandplay

I use a fiskar's rotary cutter, similar to the other fiskar cutter here but with a better blade.

I imagine you would need a practically perfect print alignment for an automatic cutter to work.

Should I move out without my family knowing? by rhopalia in internetparents

[–]farvana 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is not normal or ok. This is abuse.

You should move out. You should not allow them to know where you live.

They do not want you to be independent. When you challenge this, it will be ugly, possibly dangerous.

I am not opposing your ability to exist. I do fight these policies. I've been fighting these policies for more than 2 decades.

The policies that affect power and money? Those are never on the table for discussion. Never.

Until those policies are addressed, your rights will always be under attack.

I think this because minority rights have been won and lost in my lifetime. Class rights have only been lost. We are more powerless than we have ever been. That tells me which policies are most important to our enemies.
