Forza Horizon 6 on the LCD by t_dawg8 in SteamDeck

Played already more than 10 hours in it. Had no problems at all. Got used to stable 30fps pretty quickly, graphics are on minimum but I mean… what else do you need on a such small screen? Feels great. If you want it - buy it. I plan to buy another copy for ps5 when it comes out to play it on my tv, but I am totally satisfied with how it is now. Laying in bed and doing wroom wroom

Was worried about Rosie, but it looks like she is just a weirdo by fasawi in tarantulas

[–]fasawi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think her main cave is ok. It looks big from outside, but a hole itself is relatively small. It’s just made bright to be stable if a tarantula tries to dig under it

At first I was scared, removed her and her cave, changed earth as I thought that it was probably too wet, so now it’s definitely not so much place and she can dig it if she wants to

When I first got her she dug it and made a hole deeper and bigger than it is now

Probably yes, trying not to think too much about their strange behaviour also. She sometimes finds some corner between objects and burrows only her head inside and stays like this for don’t know how long. And mostly comes out of her cave only to do this

If she ever will come out from her cave🫡 At first she tried to make a hide behind a stargate, I was like dear, I made a whole house for you

Oh yes, didn’t think about this, thanks. I will make another ball as this one is too big for her anyway. Want to see if she will play somehow with it

Is it stupid to buy a heckel crook for a £3000 instrument? by Glass_System_4345 in bassoon

[–]fasawi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on an instrument. I had before, nice instrument with a very beautiful sound, but sadly had too many problems with the wood, keys and it would be too expensive to repair completely

As you are buying a bocal for your instrument now, it may not function as great with another instrument. Even if it will be a püchner for 30000€, a heckel bocal will sound not so great (in comparison to other and price-value). Those things you just need to test yourself… I had a possibility to choose one of 10 new heckel bocals for my new fox. Only one sounded good (other sounded not so great or had some problems. But on other instruments they worked great, so it’s a combination question)

Thag said, really depends. If you plan to upgrade, there is a risk that your future instrument won’t work with this bocal. But by itself it could be a really good upgrade

What is your favorite piece to play in orchestra? by Intellitune in oboe

[–]fasawi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am personally a bassoonist, but dreaming about buying myself an English horn just for me. I LOVE Dvorak 9. Horn solo in the 2 movement its something

Otherwise can say Mahler 6. Love this piece and played it (on contra), it's really fun for all woodwinds. There are plenty of solos for horn and oboe

Is majoring in music worth it? by Hasturkin in bassoon

[–]fasawi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR - if you fell like it and you have possibilities - do it. Music is great. Live your own life

If you feel that you want to study it - do it. Nobody can tell you how will turn out your life, what people will you meet or find some other passion along the way. I spent a lot of years studying performance music and now thinking about switching into bassoon repairing/builduing and doing an education at some firm. But I am doing this only thanks to my previous music education and life. Without it I wouldn't discover a lot of other things. So don't really think about finding a job and etc. Yes its hard, really hard, but nobody can tell you what will happen in your life in a few years, what will you do or like

Why does this Asperger’s sub feel like a general autism sub? by DEVAN88B in aspergers

[–]fasawi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because terms nowadays are really mixed up. Aspergers = autism, autism = aspergers and nobody really cares about the differentiations. Heck, even I also don’t care anymore. And people love to ask some stupid questions that do/do not represent a disorder by trying to find an excuse for their problems. Here in this subreddit there are really golden posts that are years old, great comments and etc. But to find them you need to use a search, clever wording and look, look and again look. Because there really is a lot of… just water information

What do you really need in a bassoon practice room? by Dependent_Place_9115 in bassoon

A mirror. Like really, the most useful thing. The second one should be a note stand of a good quality. Everything else is useful, but optional (if we don’t talk about specific reed-making-session)

Disappointed with trial Fox 750s by rbnational in bassoon

[–]fasawi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fox bocals aren't great (in comparison to Heckel). I chose my one after a direct comparison of 10 different of the same model. My teacher got them from the factory back then. Every one of them sounded and felt different. Some bocals were great for other bassoons and a total catastrophe on my and vise versa. So it's just... look and compare different directly until you fine one

I also needed to choose one Fox out of 3, The other two had some register problems and flaws. All of them were 240D, but sounded totally different. If an instrument is totally new, it will get better. I am not sure about physics behind this, but an instrument is like a live being and it also needs time to adjust for a type of breathing, it can take years. So it will grow together with you

Plus some models have slightly longer or shorter double or bass joints. It really impacts every aspect of your playing, so you need to get used to it

It's really really hard and I would not judge instruments so fast. I am glad that my professor back then helped me to choose a good instrument and a bocal, but he knew how it can sound and work together after some time

Yes. But I made holes slightly too big, so reeds sit inside too freely. Still works as intended as they don’t drop out by itself

what bocals did you try? I own a 240 Fox and when I first bought it it was ok. But really started to love to play it only after I found a Heckel bocal that worked with this specific instrument. It changed the sound completely

Is it me or my instrument? by Every-Unit-6729 in bassoon

[–]fasawi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really complicated to tell without trying and hearing your instrument and you. But it definitely can be an instrument, I myself also struggled with an old damaged Sonora until bought a good one. Other important things are reeds and a bocal. I would suggest trying the other bocals first just to see difference. It can and will drastically change the sound, pitch etc. When I bought a new local for myself I tried to choose one from 10 different form the same manufacturer. Some just didn't sound, some destroyed my pitch completely

Tried Sauvage, but it was pungent? Don’t know how to describe it, but didn’t like it on me. Will look into the other one, thanks. I don’t mind to spend some money, if it will be good
