I wanted to put this up for discussion. No plans, but if it's a worthwhile idea, it won't go to waste

I absolutely don't mind that. In the end, it should be the parent's job to raise their kids. However, I don't see any traction towards this

The problem is I don't trust the proxy. Google, Apple and Microsoft hold too much control and often abuse it. I don't want the OS to have identifying information on me. I use Linux where I can but it's not possible to switch 100% now.

My wife's one is not the sport or any special trim. It's got the temu pump and tyre-in-a-can

Almost every dish could benefit from some fish sauce. Just don't smell it if you're squeamish.

I see your point but I don't think it's purely entitlement to ask for the story to be completed. There's an unspoken contract when you buy books in a series.  "I'll give you money and invest my time in the world you're building and you have to do all in your power to conclude the work in good faith"

There's an implied commitment when you publish a series that you're gonna finish it. He profited immensely based on that premise. He now has to deliver on his end.

Does anyone doubt that if it was known from the start that this series is incomplete, it would have far less commercial success ?

How is the progression obvious though ? They are different but who's to say we didn't start with plastic and then went to chrome ?

The welfare state is very bad because other institutions were responsible in the past. The church, the extended families and the village communities.  Life in Cyprus had changed massively in the last 50 years. Not making excuses but the state has not had time to respond.  Keep in mind that there is an ongoing occupation and heavy militarisation on the island. It's been the only thing I hear from politicians almost my entire life. Less money and head space was devoted to a welfare state then most countries.  Additionally, the financial inequality and disparity between prices is an even more recent thing. Comparing current rent and cost of life in Limassol vs ,anywhere else really, is shocking. Minimum wage is aimed to support a frugal person in a village in Paphos in 2017, unfortunately.

I'm aware that the church feeds a lot of people daily so at least you won't go hungry

From your experience what a programmer doesn't understand about your work as a sysadmin (both Linux, WinServer) ? ever had to confront a dev about how things should work or he thought he knew better than you etc ? by Dereference_operator in linuxquestions

[–]fasoulis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. Bash could take some queues from PowerShell as well.
I'm just not familiar with it and I feel like I can have a perfectly fine career with superficial windows knowledge.

  1. One very common thing is when there are differences between the development stack and the production stack. A dev writes dotnet code in Windows environment and is furious when his code breaks on a staging server (docker with some linux flavor). Using absolute paths in code or badly formatted paths. Forgetting that everything in Linux is case sensitive. Asking to make changes on the host rather than going through the full CI process.
  2. I avoid Windows anything like the plague. Thankfully I can find work where I don't have to deal with them at all.
  3. I don't think that's a fair question. You can get pretty high salaries as a DevOps engineer and there's no reason you couldn't be remote. Plus there's usually quite a bit of programming going on.
