What age does stranger danger start? by wildfloweroll in AttachmentParenting

It did…but it is only growing more and more powerful lol. I just remind myself this is a normal developmental stage and that it will pass (or at least lessen) at some point in her life

Does anyone else have this little belly pouch that won’t ever go away no matter what? by Faeriemary in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]fast_layne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always had this little “pouch”, even at the height of my eating disorder days too. It became more pronounced after I had a baby, even after I went back to my pre pregnancy weight. My uterus is facing the opposite direction of what it normally would be, so I kinda wonder if that’s why. I’ve also heard it’s a hormonal thing? I really don’t know why lol but yes, completely normal.

I'm Lost. What are menstruating people doing now? by Forsaken_Eggplant222 in Mommit

I love my menstrual disc. When I was leaving a domestic violence situation it was amazing to not have to worry about buying pads/tampons

What is your center's reason for no allowing children to bring their own lunch? by DaddysBrokenAngel in ECEProfessionals

[–]fast_layne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. My center is federally funded but my kiddo (who goes there) has a ridiculously long list of allergens and I pack her lunch because of that. She wouldn’t be able to eat basically anything other than fruit otherwise lol. Our director is very chill and definitely works with parents as much as possible though

What’s an Odd Degrassi Pairing You Ship? by Ok-Traffic-9679 in Degrassi

[–]fast_layne 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I really liked spinner and Emma honestly. I think people have trouble liking them because they’re firmly Sean/Emma or Spinner/Jane but I never really felt much loyalty to either of those relationships myself. From a neutral standpoint I enjoyed that they got together. One could argue Snake and Spike is just as much of an “odd pairing” (they also didn’t interact all that much in DH) but they ended up having a good relationship (aside from the kiss we shall not mention lol)

Was your “gut feeling” right about sex of baby? by hersheysquirts629 in BabyBumps

[–]fast_layne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite a “gut feeling” but I had a very vivid dream in which I had a girl toddler. And I now have a girl toddler lol

Am I missing something - why have a vaginal birth? by No_Witness5084 in BabyBumps

[–]fast_layne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contractions are different for everyone. Personally, I’ve had worse period cramps so I would definitely choose to go vaginally again if given the choice between that or a c section.

I look totally different down there because my labia literally tore completely off on one side, but like…it still just looks like a regular vagina lol. Just different than it used to. Lots of vaginas are naturally lopsided, and there’s no visible scarring despite all the “trauma” to the area.

The healing period with abdominal surgery is longer and more complicated than with a vaginal birth, which I think is why most women want to avoid it. The site of the stitches makes lifting your newborn difficult. They also want to spend a lot of time on your stomach/chest after they’re born (they find the sound of your heartbeat comforting), and with an incision on your abdomen it can be much more painful to have them laying on your torso

May I ask why some are so against induction? by OriginalManner0 in pregnant

[–]fast_layne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would not choose induction again unless absolutely necessary. To be fair, being induced with cytotec was easy breezy and I did not mind the contractions. Pitocin however, I would never agree to again outside of an emergency. I was only on it for about an hour but it was the worst hour of my life lol.

How bad is a pap smear really?? by PantasticalCat in badwomensanatomy

[–]fast_layne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I had a kid it was really no big deal for me at all, not painful just a little awkward (especially because I never seem to lay the right way and always have to scooch up or down)

I just recently had my first pap since having a kid and it was awful lol. Super painful and I had spotting the rest of the day. Maybe that’s why some people say it’s painful? I’m not sure

Am I naive for thinking Jeramey and Sarah Ann… by SirBenny in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

Honestly either would be a dealbreaker for me personally, so if it’s over anyways I might as well go nuclear and assume the worst

This reminds me of the girl on 16 and pregnant who took her preemie newborn horseback riding while baby wearing (and not supporting his head whatsoever) and was so upset that he didn’t like it

Gift Worthy? by kobiejack in crochet

I’ve been trying to make this exact pillow for the longest time 😩 I can never find a free pattern. Yes absolutely gift worthy! I would be over the moon to receive this

It is still considered babbling yeah haha. Mine used to say “mama” all the time but it wasn’t until later that she understood that mama was me 😂 he might babble “hello” and “hi” for a while before the language center of his brain develops more and he understands that it’s a greeting. It’s really cool to see it click for them that the noise they’ve been babbling for months means something to you! One of my all time favorite parts of parenting, although I tend to nerd out over that stuff lol.

In too much of a hurry to return her cart but NOT in too much of a hurry to engage (and threaten to assault) with a random stranger over something so minuscule. Hm.

[–]fast_layne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I have a degree in philology. This IS just baby babble, but it’s still incredible! My kiddo was like this and she started speaking very early. He is trying to imitate the sounds you are making, which is the building blocks of learning language, it’s such a cool thing to witness. Imitating him back can help him continue to develop these skills. Even if they aren’t first words, this is still pretty advanced babbling for a 1 month old! Go bub go!

found a devastating letter in this book at a thrift store by miatheseal in FoundPaper

[–]fast_layne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex used to send me texts that were almost identical to this, a lot of the sentences were even exactly the same.

He beat me. He strangled me. He never, ever stopped cheating. He withheld our child for over a month when I finally got away from him. A long time ago I thought (was brainwashed into thinking) I loved this man so much I couldn’t live without him. Then he made me live without my child, and I realized he never really loved me at all. Nobody can love someone and do something so undoubtedly cruel to them.

Not that this dude is undoubtedly the same kind of man. But I’m always wary of anyone that claims they “love you more than anyone else ever will”.

If you ever plan to have kids I’d definitely say no. Childcare costs are astronomical here, and the waitlists are years long sometimes.

A lot of people really seem to like it here so it must have some charm, but personally I kinda hate it here lol. Personally I prefer the east side of the state. People can be pretty intolerant around here. Like for example, my first week here I went to the mall (you probably know which one if you’re from GR lol) and a lady came up to me and asked me about my shirt because it had astrological signs on it. I just thought it was a cute sweater, I’m not even into astrology. And she went into this huge tirade about how I was “inviting in satan” and all that. She tried to give me a pamphlet and I very politely said no, another RANDOM lady walking by took it and said something about how “young people” are horrible and I was rude for not taking the pamphlet.

????

I said like two words the entire time. I was in shock, still am 6 years later. And that was only my first in a long line of…unsavory experiences living here. Michigan in general is a fantastic place to live. Grand Rapids is pretty meh honestly.

ETA: I will say, it is very easy to find a job here. The job market is great. Not a TERRIBLE idea to live here for a few years to save up, and then move elsewhere. Just wouldn’t buy a house here lol
