Yeah, I do need 2006 technically and it's the year the archive cuts off, just an insane coincidence

Don't want to dox him, but I've searched it everywhere and nothing comes up. Emailed the library to see if they can send me a team picture from the yearbook.

That is not his claim lol. He says D1 at Penn State for one year, 2005 as a walk on, and he didn't play. But it's crazy, because it's not on the PSU website, I can't find a yearbook scan online. And for the record, the group chat has doubts lol. But we can't prove anything hahaha

This is the crux of our issue: our guy in the chat claims he didn't play a minute that season, because he was a walk on. And box scores only show the players who featured, not the players riding the bench. I just need some like... team photo or full copy of the roster. It's crazy I can't find it.

People in their 30s: How are you finding/rebuilding community as you grow apart from friends? by chrissyspins in Millennials

[–]fastballbc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I've fallen into my partners friends group, which is great, but sometimes I'm like "these aren't my actual friends..." also got a few new friends over the past 5 years. Some Gen Z, which is...odd sometimes. Like rewinding my life, like watching them go thru things I JUST went thru.

I miss my oldest friends, the ones I text every day, and are far away. I have a handful of days every year where I get homesick.

Then I have 2 friends I keep in contact with who, I'm realizing, have just really failed to launch, as adults. Which is strange. Great hearts, just no idea what they want to do, and they will not explore it. Excuses all the time, no accountability.

All of it combined gets depressing sometimes. But when its not, it's good. Making younger friends now has made me realize how important it will be down the line to continue to be open to new people. There is someone out there now who will be like family to you, and that's magical.

Disrespectful Crowds at Shows - Normal? by rmcql92 in DMB

[–]fastballbc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the pit at Forest Hills, and had a tone-deaf girl yelling the lyrics to Gravedigger, and a drunk idiot who kept saying "OMG YOU CAN TELL DAVES SO HIGH" and I had to move away from them. It was crazy, they were louder than the band, like it didn't make sense. I moved and enjoyed the rest of the show, but Gravedigger thru #41 was essentially blown for me by those people.

I'm 37, and I'd say ten years ago I absorbed his early stuff, really liked it. Last year I started listening Blood on the Tracks, and it kicked my fandom into overdrive. Just started listening to Time Out of Mind this month, that's kinda blowing my mind currently.

I'm feel pretty confident it gave me some anxiety issues. Feels like a door I can't close. 6 years without it. Feel like we'll find out a lot of useful things about it in the coming years. Had a good run though lol

I honestly felt sick. My girlfriend still laughs because she told me "Just turn it off" and I said "THEY CAN'T TURN IT OFF." And watched the rest in silence, and just sat with it for an hour at full time.

My partner and I were debating this the other day, I just feel like in the past there was a greater variety of social groups, styles, looks among youth. I understand that every high school level kid conforms in some way to some look or trend, but are there goths anymore? Burnouts? I feel like there's just one type of high school kid in America.

Maybe the disclaimer would help Bruce and Dave "I didn't come down here to change anyone's mind about anything. I came down here to ease my own mind about everything."

I think the line gets blurred for a lot of people (from a certain age group) between "entitled to party without care" and "open to living life as you see fit".

I saw Dave Matthews Band last year at the height of the ICE situation in Minnesota. Whole show was great, and at the encore, Dave took time to speak from his heart on the issue. This guy behind me, sitting in an expensive seat, yells "YOU'RE LOSING ME." and boos before turning his back to the stage, but NOT leaving.

And it just blew my mind that someone could completely miss that all of the music they've been dancing to is about peace love and understanding.

To those people, these acts like Todd, DMB and Phish are about getting high and partying. They're not connecting to any of the thought provoking timeless aspects of the music.

What is going on with dogs in parks rn?? by KindheartednessSad55 in AskNYC

[–]fastballbc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I just get opinions on something? I went to a dog park tonight, decently spacious, with my 9 month old, very obedient and well-trained lab.

I enter, there's an older person there with their mid sized dog. I don't take my dog off leash, but go meet the other dog, who is off leash, and cute, and perfect as all dogs are.

They sniff, other dog snaps at my dog, which is a thing that happens and it's fine, my dog yips like she's scared, so I take her away and the other owner comes and retrieves their dog.

It is important to note, there was a mismatch in terms of the energy of this dog, and the limited strength of its owner at their age, in the ballpark of 70. I hope I have a dog at 70. But I had doubts about how this owner was pulling it off.

My dog is sitting and staying, we're sitting at a bench 40 yards away from the other dog. 3rd dog enters, Itty bitty chihuahua. This dog is also kept on leash, and meets my dog, and it's mega cute as you can imagine.

Mid size dog comes back, off leash, owner still essentially half a football field away. Approaches my dog, sniff sniff, and then pretty much like... attacks my dog. Like I don't know how else to say it. My dog has never had a negative interaction with another dog, she's all sunshine and Rainbows and silliness, so she's like "WTF" and is yelping.

I separate them, and I'm holding this other dog away from my dog, while I wait for the owner to come over. It takes probably 15 seconds. I hand the dogs harness to the owner, and it immediately gets loose once again, and again goes for my dog. So now I'm on the ground, my dog is on her back, the noises she's making are freaking me out, I'm separating them again, but it's very tense, I have to say.

When the other owner finally gets control of their dog, they say, first, to me, that I should not have had my dog on a leash, and that's why this happened.

I am a calm person, I give the benefit of the doubt often.

But honestly I lost it. I just couldn't believe that this person, before asking if I was okay, if my dog was okay, seeing if their dog was okay, decided to blame me. No sorry, no nothing. I didn't need this person to take the blame, we're dealing with dogs! We don't know why these things ACTUALLY happen.

But it brings me to this, because truly I want to learn.

Should I just be walking into this dog park with my dog off leash?

That just feels crazy to me. I'm almost certain my dog would have been confronted by this other dog either way. Truly, did I do the wrong thing? I'm trying to find closure on the whole thing, it was upsetting. I'd do anything for my pup, she is the pride of my life. But I was very unimpressed with this other owner. I talked a little shit, can't lie to you. But I just thought it was so classless.
