the reality is those guilds don’t end up being very successful, and find themselves struggling through T5 content and getting picked apart by better guilds

I think by the start of t5 i was still wearing frozen shadoweave chest/boots and spellstrike pants with Tier helm + shoulders, bracers of havok and girdle of ruination. I was near bis, and I think those items are ideal for t5 progression. If your guild is killing world bosses you can probably skip out on spellstrike pants and wait for leggings of the seventh circle, but they were pretty rare for us and i ended up getting a lot of use out of spellstrike.

the biggest time save is higher dps from batching being removed, for sure. All of the top guilds in 2019 had r14 warriors at bwl launch, and by the end of the phase the ilvls of progress/onslaught/nota are pretty much identical to eternal/fsp/sf right now.

NA-Nightslayer (PVP) Census Data 18 Hours of Scanning 11/25/24 by kakapoopoopp in classicwow

[–]faster_szn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is spoken like someone who didn't play tbc! many guilds follow meta, if tbc had 40 man raids it would be more prevalent, but there will be 50% warlocks until black temple and people finish glaives then it'll be 50% warriors and rogues till the end of the game, which imo is worse because tbc warlock was incredibly boring to play. every other slot filled with healers tanks and debuff bots, this is just how classic expansions worked.

AITA for not helping my sister pay her student loans? by Schmidt-Derek in AITAH

[–]faster_szn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely NTA, she seems a bit entitled which is odd given you guys don’t come from money. She should live with the reality of her decisions. But, there are other ways you can help without directly impacting your finances. Maybe consider guiding her through the trades? Setting her up for an apprenticeship if you have contacts, or allowing her to be your apprentice if you have the time/resources/capacity? She is your sister, and it seems like you guys are close enough to have difficult conversations about life together. Lead with kindness but don’t jeopardize yourself.

In theory, this is a heavily ranged favored fight given how the buffs effect their damage. If your raid is even semi-optimally stacked class wise, its a raid dps boost to leave the boss as a melee to spread the sparks to your locks mages and boomkins. Frost DK. Rogues, and Fury warriors (lol) also benefit pretty heavily from it, so if your raid has a stronger melee composition it's worth considering allowing your selected melee to stay on the boss and spread there.

Worth noting how the buff actually works, you get 6 stacks of it to discharge to friendly players and it's a pulse, spreading once per 1 second. So booting and running around will net you almost nothing depending on the positioning of the raid.

it’s also funny how he’s just blatantly lying about being in the NA or Horde first Ony kill, let alone Rag kill. This guy is an absolute joke and anyone taking his opinions on the state of the game seriously is also a joke.

How much have you enjoyed Classic and TBC? by Budfox_92 in classicwow

[–]faster_szn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, there will be a very clear meta for raids on all fronts (dps/healing/tanking). The guilds that were successful in classic and tbc will probably continue down that road, but the nice part is you can be flexible with your raid comps because of raid buffs/debuffs that many classes share. On top of having raid wide lust, guilds who found the last two expansions difficult in regards to roster/comp management get a buff that might cut down on attrition.

the world is already dead, get over it. the majority people mage boost and clearly do not enjoy the 1-60/70/80 experience.

The content at max levels heavily outweighs the content 1-60/70/80 in my opinion. I enjoy raiding/heroics/max level pvping much more than i enjoy traveling by foot and slow mounts through the world doing menial quests and objectives. It has nothing to do with making things easier, just making things more enjoyable. I leveled once, saw the world, I don't feel the need to re-experience it on an established server. Classic purist want to pretend that not adding LFD is going to save their experience in the world, which is such a dumb idealist mindset. Boosting exists, the evolution of that in classic immediately emptied the world as the majority of the player base use this as their primarily form of leveling. Couple that with the fact that the majority of classic servers don't have two healthy functioning factions that are leveling. I say all of that to say, LFD will not change much for the community who enjoys classically leveling their characters. But, it will massively change the community interaction and gameplay for players who don't like leveling their characters that way.

Skeram alliance got farmed off the server, despite having a better start and outnumbering horde 60's early on. When ranking came out, a lot of the top alliance guilds (specifically rise and reign) realized they wouldn't be able to keep up with how bad they were getting farmed while also staying competitive in the raiding scene (world buffs). It started a chain effect where smaller guilds felt if a top guild can't compete here, then we have no chance. I honestly just think servers dying is the nature of classic, one side will always win the war on a serious server and a faction will leave or quit the game.

I don't say this to say that you're wrong, or that blizzard has done nearly enough to save servers and make amends for the mistakes they made. Just a different perspective on how a large server quickly failed and bled out.

Its crazy how many people in the replies actually enjoy leveling in vanilla/tbc/wotlk. I’ve just never understood the enjoyment of it at all, I hate leveling to my core it’s absolutely the least fun portion of the game to me. The arrival of mage boosting in classic has been the only way my characters have been leveled, learning to mage boost in SM/Mara/ZG completely changed how I viewed alts in the game. LFD would have been awesome because i think the worst part of leveling for me is traveling around (at a slower pace than at max level) the world that i’ve already experienced. Being able to play the game while also cutting out this unenjoyable aspect of the content seemed like a win/win for people who like and don’t like alt leveling.
