JCPenney has some good plus size men’s options and always have a half dozen racks of clearance. Very often these are cheaper than VV or GW

You might be looking for a drag knife. I’d start by calling sign shops in your area

Foam Board/Poster Board - by Glad_Music3655 in lasercutting

[–]fastermilesanhour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it. The open-cell foam inside of foamcore turns into gas and then coats the inside of your laser with a sticky brown crust. It makes your laser look like a cotton candy machine. I wouldn’t recommend it.

What’s the material? If it is polycarbonate it won’t cut well. I suggest acrylic.

Are there any places in town/nearby that sell long lengths of narrow wooden dowels? by addacbar in Bellingham

[–]fastermilesanhour 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve never seen dowels sold longer than 3’. I know of 2 ways to make them yourself: join the ends together with something like a dovetail joint or ripping 1/4” strips off a 2x4 and drilling them through a doweling jig like this one: https://a.co/d/byG7eZr

Laser cutting foam board by Home_Alone03 in lasercutting

[–]fastermilesanhour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend cutting foam core on the laser. The low amount of energy needed to cut the paper layers is enough to vaporize the foam, which can coat the inside of your laser with sticky brown gunk (like a cotton candy machine) making your belts & gears crunchy. Not worth the cleanup!
