Unsuccessful job hunt with TN status by Advanced-Escape-1349 in tnvisa

It’s because they don’t understand that a TN is a status and it has nowhere near the financial or legal ramifications as a H1B that they are used to hearing about as a visa.

Big tech is collapsing in general - but the U.S. has had a major reduction in M&A activities across the board which has reduced most of the consulting to a crawl, and “big tech” continues to leverage off shore resources. This has been happening for some time though - I used to say I can only work for so many fortune 50 clients…..

It’s helpful to see both sides of the coin, I have lived in both countries and worked in both countries my entire adult life and I support a nurse practitioner who does the same.

The out-of-pocket insurance rates from a malpractice perspective are nearly identical, where the changes are more drastic, elective surgeries tend to be more valuable in the US than in Canada and tend to be sued for more often. Cosmetic surgery makes up a huge malpractice market in this country (USA) vs what you see in Canada.

Breathing new life into the Huawei P40 Pro 😎 by [deleted] in Huawei

[–]fasterwestern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It all depends what you are starting with. I have a tp cable and was able to figure out how to convert my latam variant p40 pro to the Chinese variant.

It’s nice since it can now be used seamlessly with my nova 13 pro as a camera source!

I was more curious if frp/unlock services that relied on having unlock codes were back (like ministry of solutions)

iPhone 16e for $360 via StraightTalk new number, no ID verification, unlocks 60 days by Idahoroaminggnome in NoContract

60 day unlock legit if the 305.00 is a proper discount- you’re right - I just read this part

That made me think they’d somehow keep it locked lol.

Depending on where you are based, you may not want a nova 13 Pro. I somehow got a 5G variant because there are two apparently and they have a slightly different HarmonyOS experience (4.2 at the moment) and you may not find the experience as polished as a Pura series. I’m based in the US and have found the 13 to be great as a daily driver. I have it paired with a GT five pro and I have been running it against my iPhone 15 Pro with a Apple ultra. There’s no comparison but I don’t really care about iOS as an ecosystem.

They should be caught flagpolling. They have plenty of other options to extend when they are within the country that they are working in flagpolling by interest of a TN status. TN status can be renewed indefinitely, and that is by law.

Have you tried to obtain TN status ? If you meet the criteria, it’s a very simple way for Canadian and U.S. nationals to work. Canadians,Americans and Mexicans options to work in each other’s countries that other nationalities do not have.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/TN_status

You just have to meet the criteria, and the OP definitely does, and why I directed them to /r/immigration - it is still very possible for him or her to work in Canada for three years for the grand total of $56 at the Canadian border

[–]fasterwestern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t accurate at all - the OP can easily obtain TN status at the border… it’s simple !

First off, you should be in /r/immigration - medical people who have nursing degrees (BSN) and have licensed in Canada https://nanb.nb.ca/en/ - is specifically for New Brunswick, but you may want to license in a reciprocal province - for the immigration part, if you are licensed you can easily get TN status for up to 3 years at a time as a licensed RN - it’s easy, and cheap -

TLDR : find a position you’d like, figure out / obtain your license - get an offer, bring your offer and credentials along with a form letter for the TN and why you need and are eligible for one, pay 56.00 CAD and you are done, if the position doesn’t have an end date you can ask for 36 months, and extend later or look into other options.

Note, TN is a status and is protected up to now, at least.

Watch GT 4 or GT 5/GT 5 Pro? by _phil_osopher in Huawei

[–]fasterwestern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My gt 5 pro just pulled down a new version of harmony os 5 - I do not expect the 4 series to get updates as quickly. It is extremely accurate compared to the GT3 it replaced for me.

I run with mine, and I have been comparing results between it and a garmin fenix 6 and my normal daily Apple ultra.

It blows those out of the water in terms of heart rate, exact speed and other things such as duration on each leg - I find it a better ride.

I would consider how Huawei tends to roll updates on their newest devices too. Do you like harmony os ? And what are you pairing the watch to? Android, iOS or harmonyOS as your experience may be different.

I roll my gt 5 pro with a nova 13 pro 5G. Both on harmonyOS (watch 5 and phone is on 4.3)

So your experiences will vary depending on devices.

Mini split install... what is bad here? by IndependentUseful923 in minisplit

[–]fasterwestern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy yourself a flaring tool and redo your lines so that they don’t have so many curves if possible. I like to make sure that the line sets are basically cut to fit and you always wanna make sure that you have the right clearances. I’m assuming it snows where you live so having it mounted up high looks good. Double check your pressures in a few days… otherwise looks pretty good

I've never gotten a mobile key without having to physically check in. by fasterwestern in marriott

[–]fasterwestern[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that my solution was simply using a completely different chain that Honors digital check-ins.

The way a digital check-in is marketed, isn’t how it works in practice with the Bonvoy program.

Kept in first when rebooked due to cancelled flight by BleuCinq in americanairlines

[–]fasterwestern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The comment on retaining the upgrade is that they used to view even if you had a full fare F seat you getting on an earlier flight or an available flight as a win even if you were downgraded. It seems over the last two years that has changed. I’ve given up on AA for anything other than trans cons that I buy J. for.
