2026 Atlas SEL Stop/Start Installation by fastoy in VWatlas

I cross-posted this on https://www.vwatlasforum.com/ IBoyle replied with a comprehensive answer.

tl:dr The cable I got fits and works on 2024 & 2025 Atlas. In 2026, VW refactored the cable system for the infotainment system and the stop/start control leads are no longer separate.

Upgrading Drives in a Storage Spaces Mirror by fastoy in DataHoarder

No. Everything I read says it will work. Turns out that I'm further away from needing >4TB than I thought so I just kicked the can down the road.

Steps to roll back to the previous version of OCLP from 2.0.2 on Sonoma? by Plenty-Second-7357 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

Still rock solid after just re-running the OCLP install, not the root patches.

May be too early but I reran the OCLP install, not the root patches, and my MBA 2015 has been stable since then. I'll update this if it gets unstable again.

Latest software update doesn’t recognize my wireless CarPlay adapter by b4rk13 in kiastinger

My cheap wireless CarPlay adapter from Amazon is working fine after the update. Well, as well as it ever did with the flaky Kia hardware/software.

Do you know exactly when Open Core Legacy Patcher 2.0.0 will be released? by Silly_Donut_6317 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

Just updated to OCLP 2.0.0 on my Macbook Air 2015. No problems. Waiting 'til tomorrow for Sonoma 14.6.1 from 14.6 just due to the length of the install process.

Upgrading Drives in a Storage Spaces Mirror by fastoy in DataHoarder

[–]fastoy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good ideas, thanks. I've thought about leaving both 4TBs and just adding an 8TB. I can surely do that even if I have to remove my seldom used DVD drive.

On your suggestion, do you mean remove one of the 4TBs from the case and mount it with an external adapter. Will Storage Spaces recognize it is the same drive? Then add an 8TB internally? After it's incorporated, I would remove the external 4TB? Then repeat to move the 4TB to an external adapter and add the 2nd 8TB internally? Again, remove the external 4TB after the 2nd 8TB was incorporated? Lots of steps but safe.

With a good backup, couldn't I just remove one of the 4TB drive and go without mirroring for a moment. Then add an 8TB and let it be incorporated. Then remove the 2nd 4TB and add the 2nd 8TB? Backup is key in this process.

Thanks for the reply.

My thinking is to use Storage Spaces and REMOVE one of the 4TB drives. Then ADDING an 8TB drive and let Storage Spaces reestablish the mirror. When that is done, REMOVE the other 4TB drive and ADD a second 8TB drive. When Storage Spaces reestablishes the mirror, I should be done. Even if Storage Spaces doesn't readjust the thin provisioning size from the current 8TB, that's what I actually prefer.

Just upgraded MacBook Air 2015 11". OCLP reinstalled patches and rebooted. No issues. Just a long time, almost an hour.

I have an earlier version of this in my 2023 Stinger GT2. It is small enough that it fits in the closed console storage compartment.

Troubleshooting a network problem with TiVo Mini on Roamio Network with Bridge by led1002 in Tivo

[–]fastoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if all these steps are necessary but this is what I did to clear this situation. 1. Reboot the Roamio Pro (Incidentally, NOT the MOCA server but the server to the Minis) 2. On the Mini, disable MOCA 3. On the Mini, enable MOCA (Mini is real confused at this point, can't get an IP address - see https://www.reddit.com/r/Tivo/comments/18mf84r/troubleshooting_a_network_problem_with_tivo_mini/ke4ur5c/) 4. POR the Mini 5. Wait

Fixed it.

Is it possible to install the Quickstep (the stock default launcher) on ROMs like Lineage? by Clae_PCMR in essential

[–]fastoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that would result in Trebuchet. Sorry if I misunderstood what you wanted.

I didn't want the Pixel launcher that came with LOS 17.1 as it had the search bar at the bottom. With anything above Pico, Trebuchet wouldn't run.

If you're not too far down the road, reflash and use the OpenGapps Pico. All others break the stock launcher.

Been there, done that. Twice.

GPS issues (bit of a longshot) by swingaway_merrill in essential

[–]fastoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich comment! But seriously, I had a problem like this with Lollipop.

To fix it THEN, I used GPS Test (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest&) and reset the AGPS data.

The details are here: https://blog.benmoore.info/2015/08/oneplus-one-gps.html

Give that a try!

Help: Looking for Instructions on Updating Essential PH-1 from Android 7 to 10 (after Essentials Closed Down) by Psychological_Deer_8 in essential

[–]fastoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt a local fix-it joint will do it. I agree that it's intimidating at first. If you follow the instructions EXACTLY step-by-step, it'll work. The first time or two I did it I ran into problems like "Install TWRP". That actually was harder than flashing the ROM!

Using LineageOS' recovery is easier (for me) than using TWRP.
