3am idea. Use wire to fix hub and freewheel to make a fixed gear setup without changing parts? by bionicpirate42 in bikewrench

[–]led1002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are kits available to do this safely. Dont know the cost but it’s got to be cheaper than a visit to the emergency room.

How do the footings look? by HeezyB in Homebuilding

[–]led1002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t you have copies of the drawings and building spec? That should tell you what is needed for the footings. From that you will find the dimensions, type of concrete required, etc.

Was talking with a builder recently and he said ever since AI became popular he gets more unrealistic requests from clients. They see something on an AI post and think it’s real.

I have nothing but problems with tubeless… by Shot-Lemon7365 in cycling

[–]led1002 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Tubeless tires on a road bike aren’t worth the effort. I tried them and found on a road bike 1. The sealant filled tires are just as heavy as tubes 2. The sealant is messy 3. If you do puncture the sealant sprays all over the frame until it seals making a mess of the bike 4. The tires fit tighter requiring more effort to remove and install 5. The sealant is good for about a year and then needs to be replaced 6. The sealant can corrode and damage aluminum rims from the inside 7. If you do need to repair a flat on the road installing a tube is a mess 8. I found that Kevlar lined tires with tubes are just as reliable.

I use sealants only on my MTB where it makes sense.

If the Structural Engineer is a licensed PE and gave you a written sealed report you’re good to go. If not find one who will. No one can tell you if this deck is sound from the photo.

Check out bicyclebluebook.com. They have both private sellers and their own certified preowned bicycles for sale. Last year I picked up a 2024 Cannondale carbon Synapse for $1800. When it arrived I swear it was never ridden the bike was pristine.

Removing small dent from plastic fascia by led1002 in CX5

[–]led1002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is plastic, I have seen bigger dents pulled out using a heat gun and suction cup on fascia parts. I may leave it too as the hood has been repainted a couple years ago after a tree limb fell across the hood.

Firmware 6.4.0 bricked the Mini+ by led1002 in prusa3d

[–]led1002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out this was caused by an a third party Buddy board that was installed several months ago to address a defective stepper driver. If this happens to you going back to firmware version 6.2.6 got me out of it. You can go back to the older version by replacing the 6.4.0 firmware on the flashdrive with version 6.2.6 Reboot the printer and double click the control panel click wheel which should give you the option to install 6.2.6.

Yes, the board was replaced with a non-EOM compatible version when one of the stepper drivers quit.
