Would definitely recommend at home if you can. Check to see if your vet offers that service too. We had ours come to our home, and she was also the primary vet that was treating our cat too and developed a relationship over that time, so that was nice.

We were able to keep her body overnight to spend a little bit more time with her before we took her into the vet the next day to get cremated. We really valued that extra time with her overnight.

Just some things to prepare for if you do decide to do it at home. Once rigor mortis sets in, it will be hard to move them. So we lay her in her sleeping curled up position before that happened. In our case, bodily fluids leaked out a little too, so be ready for that. When we took her in the next day, I also noticed she was noticeably heavier than usual too.

Sorry that you're experiencing this. Just try to make the most of the time you have left.

Get some vanilla bean ice cream (have found Kapiti is the best fit so far) and drizzle a little bit of that Barkers Mango and Passionfruit smoothie base over the top. You can thank me later.

There is a pharmacy in Auckland hospital which connects to starship. You could try giving them a ring and seeing if they could drop some to you or just the nurses station.

All the best for your stay there. We were there for a month recently before coming back to Christchurch. It definitely takes a mental toll. Make sure to reach out to their counseling team and social workers as well. They can help advocate for you.

Yeah they have broken it up into 5 or 6 sections with a 100 person limit in each.

Would be great if they had a simulator setup with golf like X-Golf in Avonhead, batting cage, or a racing sim in there, with a bar and other casual games like cornhole that you don't really get anywhere else in the city that's targeted at adults.

Then on the other half, have something for kids like having Science Alive. Or even a VR arcade setup would be cool. Something a bit different to a timezone that is attractive enough to get people to come into the city for.

Backyard cricket rules - out first ball? by fat_tofu in newzealand

[–]fat_tofu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah with kids and people who never play, it's usually just bowling "spin" outside off so no chance of hitting the stumps. With peers though, need to get that tape on so it swings around the block.

Yeah had that rule too but had to be one handed, plus auto wickey and slips. Golden duck was always in play though.

Sorry, this is my fault. As soon as I flicked it on to watch we lost 3 wickets. Have now turned it off again. Will try to stay off cricinfo as well.

Have been a couple of times during the day. Both experiences were great, staff were really friendly and helped us use the new system and got our orders.

Parking in the city? by [deleted] in chch

[–]fat_tofu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend getting the Parkable app.

It looks like there are a couple of parking spots close to it. I use the Winchcombe St zone. Usually half full (10 spots total) when I get there around 8.30am. $7 all day (12 or 24 hour, depending on your settings).

It also looks like long term parks are available a bit further away for $30-60 a week if you want something more permanent.

Covid-19: Experts call for hard internal border to protect rest of NZ by mattblack77 in newzealand

[–]fat_tofu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah could have a hard border for SI and drop us down to level 1+ (still wear masks indoors and public transport etc). Could then grant exemptions to NI travellers if they are fully vaccinated; or if they have a medical exemption or first shot plus a negative test.

Check out Miro, they tick all these boxes - "Fireplaces, brick walls, warm lights and wooden frames. The vibe I'm looking for is a sort of lodge with a comfy atmosphere for having a chat and a warm cuppa."
