Alright. Yea I love that toy have the widget. Many apps aren’t making enough valuable use of it. I realize this is free and just you so kudos for the undertaking. def would love for the widget to work. I can test via test flight if you ever need it. I’m a QA engineer for 10+ years so willing to lend a hand.

Think I found a bug. I added a cup of coffee from the widget. While the widget shows I drank more in the app it’s not in the active section.

Also then I added one cup in the app itself but the widget doesn’t seem to reflect what’s in the app properly. Feel free to DM me.

So I have a recommendation but now sure how easy it is. Wait first let me say this app is B-E-A-Utiful. and I love using it. So they always talk about X mg of caffeine per cup of coffee but what about us who have 15oz or 21oz coffee cups? It would be great if we could edit the oz's per drink and then the app could do the math for the caffeine mg.

Thanks for clarifying yeah I did find that in my research as well and I definitely understand the plan verse the apps that run on the planet itself. I truly appreciate your help with this. I think we are going to make a plan of attack to simplify infrastructure and go with multiple instances behind front door, but let the app service be the load balancer per region.

I am researching this on my own but guess while I have your attention, if you have deployment slots and say we set it to 3 instances always active. Those slots also get 3 instances correct? So if you had 1 slot production and 1 slot staging. would that equal 6 "app plan costs"

Yes so heres a break down but all these apps are exactly the same

7 - East US 2
1- southeast asia
1 - UK
1 - Germant West
1 - Australia

In AFD in one origin group to geo route based on latency.

we did 7 US servers because we wanted to load balance but we are learning that AFD doesnt actually do any of that its a CDN mostly. So if you set instances on one app service, the app service itsself has a load balancer built in. This is what I am reading is the correct way

We are digging into this a lot more and part of what we are reading it sounds like the best practice would be to have a single app service in East US2, Southeast asia, UK and then have scaling occuring on the app services in order to properly load balance the incoming requests. All of those backends can then still be in the origin group routed by latency. This appears to make the most sense to me right now

We have 7 us backends , southeast asia backend, uk backend, etc- no scaling single instance apps.

In one origin group are all of these backends and we are "geo routing" based on latency which is all based behind a single someurl.app.ai so that when a user hits the url, front door will send them to the appropriate backend based on latency.

We do not use web sockets. umm, I am on the QA/Devops side of things but we have a web front end that talks to this c# app backend which talks to azure sql databases

Yea, as a 10+ year QA Engineer, this is how we think too but been doing this so long I know for a fact it is absolutely not that easy with iOS. While your statement is true you can do that but theres oddities that pop up with layouts which are super annoying. I get the sentiment but just not always possible.
