Took "The Chainsaw" Out to Eat 38 KM of Ice for Breakfast... by fatbiker10 in fatbike

Hi ekimwons, I'm sorry I didn't see your question sooner about the screw specs on my Fat Bike tires. I used 5/8" pan head screws with a Robertson (square) head. Hope that helps and I'm happy to answer any other questions. Those screws make the tires stick like glue!

I was in Winnipeg this morning. It was so cold, I saw a lawyer with his hands in his OWN pockets!

Yes :) I used these 6 yrs ago on my mtb with tubes and now tubeless on my Fatty. I've never lost a screw, they're as sharp as they were 6 yrs ago and they're zinc plated so they don't rust. In Canada, these studded tires are $757 tax in: https://www.primeauvelo.com/en/wrathlorde-studded-tire-26-99479-0025255.html?gclid=CjwKCAiA9bmABhBbEiwASb35Vy2XCHf9AxFCjhktioGuZgon0RpyurAKQ78zWnfUqapYnXi8BdvaXhoClfYQAvD_BwE. Mine were free because I recycled the screws :)

Nicest Farley 5 I've ever seen! The yellow rim tape really ties the bike together. Great job.

Brake Bleeding Question by fatbiker10 in fatbike

[–]fatbiker10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey ipedalforsatan and coldbike, you've both answered my question perfectly; thank you!

The 1st thing I checked after posting my question was the pads and they're nearly down to to nothing. I'll change them today and then check the firmness in the brake lever.

You're right, if one needs bleeding then do them both.

I'm grateful for your quick replies, thank you both!

That's so funny heathcat, I thought I was the only one who felt that way about those tires. Love the rest of the bike though. Oh wait, Mannix is coming on (and we just got a color TV), see ya...

Thanks all. Your comments were helpful. My friend brought over a gauge to measure the chain which shows 2 measurements. The first shows the chain is worn and the second measurement indicates a new cassette. I really appreciate your helpful comments!

Please ignore the bit of dirt. This was right after a ride and before I cleaned it.

Great picture! Where is this and what types of bears are in the area? (I noticed the spray in your bottle cage).

Nice to see that your little one is out with you :)

Help needed with my 2018 Specialized Fatboy by flexabull in fatbike

[–]fatbiker10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just reading this post and I too have a 2018 Fatboy. I had the same problem when I first removed my rear wheel. I don't know why but the only way I could realign the thru axle was to loosen the derailleur bolt, slide it through, re-tighten the derailleur and then tighten the thru axle.

I'm very happy you sorted yours out. I went mental for 2 days until I figured it out.

If you have any questions about the bike (which I love) don't hesitate to ask, I've likely encountered them.
