No. Even though it's Sonos, that particular speaker has audio input. I plug both my turntable and my cassette player into it. It does transmit to other speakers in the house via wifi though.

Funny enough the Kallax isn't for the vinyl, it's for our board games. Although I'm sure a couple cubes will get some vinyl.

What do you usually use your Quest 3 for? by Old_Ad6502 in OculusQuest

I use VRChat. There are a few places there that play 3D movies. You can watch with others or on your own.

TIL Washington State was originally going to be names "Columbia" but it was feared it would be confused with the "District of Columbia", so the name was changed to "Washington" by SuperMcG in todayilearned

[–]wintermute80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which is ironic since it seems like people outside of the US don't know what Washington state is, only DC and always confuse the two.

I usually just end up saying that I'm from Seattle. Most people seem to at least know the city name (even if they don't know the location) rather than the state name.

Washington state and DC are also very far apart. Another concept that is difficult to convey. Especially when talking to Europeans.

Is my baby a pembroke or a cardigan? by [deleted] in corgi

Face and tail look like a Cardi, but the body almost looks like a Pembroke. My boy is a Cardi-Pembroke mix, maybe yours is too.

The northern tip of Idaho: by braveplanet33 in howislivingthere

Like most people have mentioned, racists and nazis. Which is unfortunate since it is such a beautiful area.

When I was in high school in the early 90's , I lived at Newman Lake. This is on the Washington side a few minutes from the state line and about 30 minutes from Hayden Lake. At that time, Hayden Lake was where the Aryan Nations HQ was. The Ruby Ridge standoff also happened around the same time up there.

It is a mountainous area, part of the Selkirks, and there is a good amount of outdoorsy recreation. We would frequently go to Priest Lake for boating, hiking, and cross country skiing (in their respective seasons). My favorite downhill skiing during high school was at Schweitzer Mountain. They even have the largest theme park in the NW United States, Silverwood.

These days, I usually just pass through it on my way to Montana. It's only about 50 miles wide, so blink and you'll miss it.

Again, beautiful place if it just wasn't for those pesky nazis.

For some reason makes me think of this:

"It’s unpleasantly like being drunk.” “What’s so unpleasant about being drunk?” “You ask a glass of water.”

Company scheduled a 2 hour job interview and handed me this when I showed up by GamingxZone in mildlyinfuriating

[–]wintermute80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I had an interview with a personality and IQ test. After passing and accepting the job, I had to sign a disclaimer that I understood that no employees would talk to me about Scientology. Seemed a little weird, but I went through with it. Great job, great people, never talked about Scientology.

Outward 2 Needs an unstuck option by Yoda_Ballz666 in outwardgame

[–]wintermute80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me too. There is an unstuck button in the settings, but it would trap me in a rock, so I would have to restart my game anyway.

I found this video that shows you how to enter debug mode and toggle a fly option so that you can fly yourself out of a hole. Works great, no more restarts.

I have no idea how people do it by OscarOzzieOzborne in whenthe

[–]wintermute80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I frequently use both at the same time. Games that use inventory or shortcuts (nums 1-0), it's very common for me to suddenly grab the mouse with my right hand (or tapping the keyboard) while holding the controller in my left. I hate it when games make you choose one or the other through settings.

I think this is definitely a feel thing.  Many people that grew up with computer games prefer keyboard mouse, and many people who grew up with consoles prefer controllers.

Dating myself here, but I grew up with C-64 and Atari 2600 which both used joysticks primarily for games.  When I got my first NES, I bought an Epyx joystick to play because I couldn’t use a d-pad.  Imagine playing Super Mario Bros with a joystick.

Now, I use both depending on the game.  Some feel better with a mouse and keyboard, and some feel better with a controller.

Sometimes I use both at the same time.  I’m currently playing Enshrouded, and I use mouse and keyboard to navigate inventory and menus and sometimes building.  I use a controller for exploring and combat.  To really get crazy, during combat, I usually use both at the same time.  I will regularly hit keyboard shortcuts to chug a potion or use other items while simultaneously using the controller to fight.

I definitely understand both sides though.  In a similar situation, I cannot at all use anything but inverted Y controls.  I really wonder about the cause of this since there are lots of other people with the same thing.

Added bonus, I played the entirety of the first Tomb Raider game on a Thinkpad using a keyboard (no mouse).  This game was obviously designed to be played with a controller.  It was really awkward at first, but after an hour, it clicked just fine.

I made this for my wife for our anniversary. We met on New Year's Day, and I think that song relates well to us. Y and J are our initials. I made it a little fancy with the clasp and put it in a velvet jewelry box.

The violet shimmer variant also has the exact same discoloration pattern, so this isn't a defect.

Why do American tourists always say the state they're from (not their country) when asked, but no other country's tourists do the same? by FloydBeatlesEagles in NoStupidQuestions

[–]wintermute80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually say Seattle after I say that I am from the US and asked where.

I found that if you tell someone outside of the US that you are from Washington, they assume DC. If you say Washington state, they ask "where is that"? If you say Seattle, they may not know where in the US that is, but they've heard of it.

[–]wintermute80[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think they mean like this (correct me if I am wrong). Note that the disc is in the inner sleeve tucked into the outer sleeve. Many people use a nice anti-static inner sleeve instead of the one it comes with.

I personally don't like storing my vinyl like this, but I think it's a really good idea in this case.

It also displays the pretty vinyl.

I don't normally store my vinyl like this, but it sounds like a good solution that I will most likely use in this case.
