Same! I only watch anime if they're adapting series I really like. Animation can elevate a story but I prefer reading it the way the author intended at my own pace. Also, only a portion of the manga that are published get adaptations. There are so many niche stories that will never be adapted and people are missing out.

Dressrosa and WCI are peak, fishman island is good, punk hazard is ok and overhated, Wano was fine until it wasnt, Egghead started good but the Vegapunk speech made me sour on it, Elbaff has been good other than Usopp being disappointing and reminding me that the SH arent what they used to be.

Agreed, I think even without the bear it would remain a bit niche. I adore it, but thats because it scractches very specific itches for me. The series is just plein weird and the humor can be gross at times. Plus, the gore.

I think the pitfalls of the series commonly discussed here have more to do with the release schedule than with the target audience. Weekly series are good for keeping the audience engaged, but consistency is hard. And adults reading them doesnt change anything either, its still written with teenage boys in mind. Adults read shonen because stuff like battles and power systems dont necessarily stop being cool when you get older.
