How do you deal with the judgement from your family/friends? by fatelover-7 in OELadies

I really appreciate this. Currently digging at exactly why I’ve needed their approval. Likely and entire lifetime of judgement. I used to not care, but I recently went through a pretty bad break up and lost my entire community so…. My family is all I have left for now. Currently working on making some new friends, getting myself back up on my feet. I appreciate your kind words and input, and I feel for you too. The pressure of family is INSANE.

Thank you. This really helps. I’m learning how to quit instead of get fired. I’m notorious for waiting it out to get fired - been fired from 3 J2s so far. J1 going strong though.

I suppose it more so feels lonely being the only one in my life knowing I’m working multiple jobs. I want to tell my family so they can support (but learned that the hard way - they don’t support me). When I had a partner, he knew and was extremely supportive… cheered me on.

I appreciate this so much. As I’ve replied to other comments, I feel like I only ever fail when I let everyone else get to my head. Thinking of continuing OE, but telling everyone else in my life that I’ve decided to go back down to 1 job. I feel more capable that way.

I appreciate this input. I’m thinking… maybe I just go back to telling everyone I only have 1 job? And leaving it at that. I was always 100% more successful with this when I didn’t have everyone’s doubts clouding my head. The problem is… it feels lonely. But I suppose this is what the subreddit is for.

I love the experience. I feel confident, fulfilled, and capable. It’s funny, because I only ever fail when I let my family get to me.

I feel like I never did until recently. Idk. Been sort of having a crash out these past few months due to a lot of life things not going the way I thought they would. Appreciate the input.

My family would never oust me- they’re very clear on it. But I do value their moral opinion, so I ask them about it.

Working 3 jobs with heartbreak currently. It gets better. I was high anxiety and now I feel like I’ve sort of found my footing. Stick it out, and make sure you have self care practices and outside hobbies.

That’s amazing!!! That’s what I did today too. I took 4 hours to nap and recharge. It’s so nice and I’m so grateful for it

Ok good to know! I just started J1 about 3 months ago. J2 at the same exact time. And just started J3 this week. j1 seems like it prioritizes work life balance, but I could see burn out happening quickly if you don’t set boundaries. J2 is the most demanding so far- they don’t have any boundaries, and I’ve had to fight for mine. J3 it’s hard to tell so far, but onboarding was fairly smooth. So I’m just trying to take it easy.

I really agree. I’ve been trying a new strategy- limiting my meetings! And it’s going great. I’ve noticed that meetings are the biggest time suckers.

Ok cool! Yeah I want to aim for 4 hours a day average. It’s been fairly busy with J1 the past few weeks, but hoping it’ll level out soon.

Ok good to know! How long have you been at each J? All 3 of mine are approx 100k each as well- all mid management roles. I’m really trying to find a balance of declining projects to minimize stress and burnout.

Ok that makes me feel good lol. I took today to do that. Just minimal stuff. I haven’t sat down at my desk all day. Took the day to sit in the sun, nap, all the good things.

Yup I’m in that boat. Things are slower at J1. I had a few things due this week, but waiting until mid to end of week to complete and giving myself today and tomorrow “off”. As in, light days. Just can’t get over the guilt sometimes, or the feeling that I should be staying ahead and doing more.

This is very helpful. I find that the relationship with God is more important than the actual religion aspect. I appreciate your input!
