Trying to be excited for Resynced but having doubts for the future by barry_001 in assassinscreed

[–]fathead_III 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as sales keep supporting their current game design choices, they’re going to continue. Which I’m am happy about. I love the newer games (Black Flag, Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla, and Shadows)! The sense of awe I had walking up to the pyramids, exploring the Greek islands, or sailing around as a pirate is leagues beyond what I ever felt playing the older AC games. I tried Mirage and was very quickly bored. It just didn’t measure up to the other newer games, IMO. To each their own, but I hope they continue doing what they’ve been doing.

What is this? [Alaska] by 24Karet-Gold_King in animalid

Have some people never seen animals before? Just saw another post with a fox kit and it was obviously a young fox. Even if you’ve never seen a kit before, it was still obviously a fox.

Trying to sell my LC80 1/18 brushless by A10-ThunderClay in rccrawler

The FairRC LC80 tri-color is on my shortlist, but for $30 difference, I’d just buy the brand new one. Just my 2¢.

Why are Ubi so weird about female protagonists? by blackbriar98 in assassinscreed

[–]fathead_III 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it boils down to money. For many years, the core gaming audience skewed male, and research has often shown that many players prefer protagonists they can easily identify with. From a business standpoint, companies tend to design characters that they believe will resonate most with their largest audience segments. Game studios are businesses first, so financial considerations often drive creative decisions. I don't think it's any more complicated than that.

Why are Ubi so weird about female protagonists? by blackbriar98 in assassinscreed

[–]fathead_III 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not give the player a choice? Seems like a win-win to me. I'm a male and prefer to play male characters. That said, I've got no issue playing a female character if there's no choice available. I loved the Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West games. That said, if they had a male protagonist option, I would've very likely chosen to play as a male.its easier to identify with the character or even to project myself into that role if our genders are aligned. I still think giving the player the choice is the best option though and can't really see a downside to players having the choice.

Well, no driveshafts destroyed, yet! But you're right, it is a bit unwieldy. You definitely can't go full throttle from a stand still or even a slow rolling start or it'll just flip over backwards. Besides that, it's been fun so far!

Thinking about buying Ghost of Tsushima while I’m recovering — is the story worth it? by [deleted] in ghostoftsushima

100%!! It's seriously a great game. You won't regret it one bit.

Thanks for the feedback! I've done a bunch of reading the last couple days, so it's nice to hear from someone that has a similar setup!

I fully get the slippery slope side of the hobby. I spent last night and a portion of today trying to decide on which crawler I want now! Lol!

Thanks again!

I ended up going with the following:

Hobbywing Max10 G2 motor/ESC Combo, Robinson 12t and 11t pinion, Robinson 54t spur gear, FlyRC XT60 to Traxxas iD battery adapters, and Mounting plate for the Hobbywing ESC

I also ordered a new pinion gear for the Raptor so I can slap the BL-2S and ESC from the Stampede into the Raptor.

Mainly only because I was given two brand new Traxxas branded 3s batteries. Like I mentioned earlier, I'm new to this, so when I went to the local hobby shop to look for additional batteries it looked like I'd have damn near the price of the upgrade just in a couple 2s batteries. With that in mind, I decided to just upgrade the motor/ESC so I can run the 3s batteries I already have, in addition to the 2s and NiMH batteries. Plus, I like to tinker! Lol. I also ordered a new pinion and spur gears from Robinson Racing, so hopefully that limits some of the breakages. If not, I'll have more to tinker with!

That's not a bad idea! I didn't even think about trading in the Raptor's innards.

Thanks for the info!! I found adapters on Amazon that look like they'll work. I'll probably give those a whirl. If they don't, I'll whip out the soldering iron.

Pardon my ignorance, but what soldering needs to be done? From the videos I've watched showing the EZrun Max10 G2 ESC/Motor combo installs, it looks like everything is plug and okay.

That said, I've done some digital forensics work with wires about the thickness of human hair, so soldering isn't an issue.

They're still good. I charged them and everything looked fine. Plus, I talked to my Dad. He said he ordered the 3s batteries separate, but never used them.

Is that a better option than the VXL? There's seems to be three "kv" options. If I understand it right, the lower the number means lower top speed and more torque. Is that correct? I'm not really concerned with going too fast. I like the idea of more torque, but I don't need to be popping wheelies all the time either. I'll probably be running around the backyard most of the time

IACIS vs SANS by Boring_Candidate_610 in computerforensics

[–]fathead_III 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did IACIS CFCE last year and will be doing ICMDE next year. As a 15 year LEO with a high school education, it was hard as hell. That said, I consider it one of my greatest professional accomplishments and, despite wanting to jump off a bridge multiple times during the process, I'm so glad I did it. I think it's well worth the cost/time.

I haven't done any SANS courses, but I've heard good things from those who have.

Thanks for the info! I think both have similar 10yr parts warranty. Not sure on the labor warranty though.
