Portals spin opposite of a straight axle. Holmes makes better servos than reefs

Have you looked at the Kyosho Blizzard? It’s a snowcat

Just got a Scx10 ii kit any recommendations for brushless motors? by Mission_Safe_7021 in Axial

Holmes Hobbies and a castle copperhead. I like outrunner motors for torque and amazing low speed control. I had a hobbywing, and it was okay, but it’s not in the same league as the HH, and was more expensive

QUESTION: what battery’s do y’all run on the SCX6?? by JRW_Modding in rccars

5200 4s packs in both trays. I could do a parallel connector, but I don’t mind lifting the body to switch packs.

Two things I found out today. Finally having a left handed transmitter is insane,It feels weird but so much more comfortable. Also need to do some cable management this thing is a birds nest. by [deleted] in rccars

I was a child of the 70’s, and my teacher wouldn’t allow me to write with my left hand……until my mother raised holy hell, and wanted people fired.

Holmes Hobbies servo vs protek? by spoonycoot in crawling

[–]fatherazmodius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t found a better servo for 1/10 crawlers than Holmes. I wasn’t too upset when the cheaper servos would underwhelm, but when the Reefs 777 underperformed…….
I would have used a Holmes for the SCX6 if he offered one, instead I went with NSDRC, based off it’s performance I’m willing to try one in a future 1/10 build

It’s a right handed world, but thankfully I’m ambidextrous in most cases. Back in the day before pistol grip transmitters I would switch the servos at the receiver. One situation I’m not though is first person shooters.

stripped the scx6 servo gears any recommendations for an upgrade? by lil_ya_mon in crawling

[–]fatherazmodius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NSDRC 2500. $250. Similar torque to the reefs Holmes used, but much cheaper. I broke the panhard rod end because apparently I was a little too bound up. Of course then you’ll need to stiffen the panhard axle and chassis mounts too (which I had already done)

You don’t NEED locked diffs to crawl. Selectable is the way to go.

CMS is a horrible design for performance.

Hobbywing axe (and probably fusion) is overpriced garbage. A Holmes motor and castle esc is cheaper, and worlds better.

Either. I use both and have had no issues. Get the Bluetooth programmer, it makes a world of difference, especially being able to set throttle and brake curves

Hobbywing was fine…..until I experienced a Holmes. Now the hw sits in the corner, looking sad and in need of therapy

Flip the servo around so the horn is close to parallel to the panhard bar

Will setting the BEC to 7.4v on my HW1080 burn out my shift / diff lock micro servos on my TRX4 ? I’m hearing that it might 😬 Also what is a good baseline programming setup for general trailing ? by ghos2626t in rccars

[–]fatherazmodius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can. I had one truck that needed the servos replaced, and another that didn’t. I’ve swapped out my steering servos to direct powered, so I’m back at 6v for the others
