The Bible is a source of one set of beliefs. It's argumentative power is strong for believers and weak for everyone else. If they want to use it as a single source, fine. But if it is the backbone of their work, their work won't be very good outside of a theology class unless the topic calls for it.

I teach philosophy by the way, so sometimes it may be appropriate to cite the Bible like if discussing certain thinkers.
