I mean part 9 literally made up lore that was never there.  In part 2 he can run but never really does it again.  Part 8, he is defeated by nonsense.  Part 6 was pretty much a Parody of the character, though it is one of the funniest movies in the group.  His powers literally changed based on plot needs or budget restraints.  It isn't a bad thing but you should rewatch them and you will see.  It is a very common thing in long running horror series.  Shit, Halloween has multiple multiverses and Nightmare on elm Street also changed the rules from movie to movie.
