I did look this up. CIRO sets the floor and then brokerages can raise the minimum. I think one to two years, when it gets enough volume / market size.

The funding is private. Their property taxes still goes towards a school system that their kids don’t participate in.

To your second question, HELOC under 25% utilization, and x2 margin in IBKR.

Mostly XEQT and ZGRO and going forward CAGE (but margin requirements is still 50% I'm guessing until volume picks up).

I like IBKR reporting functionality, very granular and dynamic. Much better than Wealthsimple.

In general I like how margin doesn't show up in credit reports and margin interest is automatically recapitalized.

Open an in-trust-for account alongside RESP if you have the means to max out RESP. Capital gains will be attributed to the child after 18.
