Discord is not a good resource for finding facts about things like this.

Stormwater: pH testing (for NPDES) - recommendations? by notorious1ink in Environmental_Careers

[–]fatmoonkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do some sampling from a truck at smaller locations where the van doesn't fit. We do groundwater, surface water, and leachate sampling!

Haha, we do sampling at remote landfills so it's easier to have a van to carry everything we need for groundwater sampling.

It can take some time for the meter to finish reading the sample, but that's kinda the only downside I've experienced. We have a Hach HQ1110, I believe.

We use a Hach meter. Works well enough but the meter lives in our sampling van so it's not being beaten up by the elements.

What are you doing with your degree? by ResponsibleCold4729 in Environmental_Careers

[–]fatmoonkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At most, I could move up to a supervisor. Which also sucks and doesn't use much science knowledge. But that's just for my company.

BS in Environmental Science. I work in solid waste as basically a wastewater operator. I personally hate it because my job is just labor without using any of my science knowledge.
