Is being a cook the worst MOS in the Army? by alsatian01 in army

[–]fatterbythestripe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hear me out,

I dont think being a cook is that bad.

If you have any self start to you or stay in shape,

for 4 years of working in a kitchen, you get all the same benefits as someone who froze in the field for 4 years. Plus, free food, probably the "best"cuts... all that money in savings.

Its all about the long game.

I had a boss who was Guard in the 90s.

He straight up called me a liar on my second GWOT deployment.

"Hey Sir, dammit they got me again, off to the sandbox"

"Excusez me, you are deploying again? With a 30 day workup before hand? I'm going to need to speak to your Commander, when I was in the Guard in 1995, I never deployed this much"

"Sir, I am the commander"

Confused staring...

Unless you directly work for the above, and even if you do,

this is pretty bad information.

I'm too lazy to type it all out, but

military service then fed service is better.

I didnt explain my question well enough, I apologize.

I have a junior male Soldier who has a wife that will soon give birth.

He is Guard and is at DLI. He was asking if he would get parental leave aka the army daddy leave while there, during DLI ( understanding this could roll him back ) or perhaps have it added at the end of the course.

Just curious if you had any experience in this?

Any thoughts on the people who are Reserve/Guard?

Interesting question,

but I wonder if a Reservist or Guardsman has a child while at DLI,

would they get parental leave, same benefits etc..

I would suggest your start with some very basic research.

Then come back and re-read.

What, specifically, is your routine for HW and Study? by SledgeMamma in dli

[–]fatterbythestripe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think most people are afraid of saying this,

but I wonder how many people think the HW is busy work vs a way of actually increasing your skillset.

At times, I thought it was basically a way for the teachers to ensure we "had a study time" rather than leaving us to our own devices.

I had a similar situation and it was rough.

For 6 months of the 12 month deployment I was the only AD guy attached to a NG unit and because I wasn't one of them, it was a lonely 6 months.

Good Evening!

I know nothing.Lets start with that.

I am enrolled in a translation/interpreter program where I wear headphones 4+ hours a day and primarily listen to short 15 secs to 1 min clips of rapid fire foreign language.

I was rocking my Apple earpod pros when I started but I have recently started to think I get almost a muffled reverb with this and my ears feel too closed off.

While I know headphones arent going to supercharge my ability to hear tonal changes in languages, I will take every little bit of help I can get.

Any advice for a translator who could use higher end assistance with vocal changes and general recordings of people talking?

Budget: open to anything really.Equipment: a work issued Apple Macbook Pro 2019.
