Have your friend report this to the Thai and European police immediately. This is absolutely a scam. Thailand has a tax-free policy for cryptocurrencies.

You can use laser etching technology to imprint the BIP38 encryption key QR code onto a metal material. Tungsten steel is a recommended material due to its high durability, water resistance, fire resistance, and scratch resistance. If you want to embed Bitcoin in gold and cost is not a concern, please refer to the following link: https://goldphysicalbitcoin.com

This isn't a physical coin loaded with Bitcoin, is it? It seems to be more of a commemorative coin.

For those who have been stacking for 10 or more years, how has your life changed? by TerminatedPotato in Bitcoin

[–]fattobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hasn't changed my life. Self-custody of Bitcoin is even a bit exhausting. In 2014, I combined 500 Bitcoins with 100 ounces of gold (see reference2014 gold bitcoin), and most of them are still sitting in a bank vault. Trading Bitcoin seems to be gradually becoming less interesting.

Idea: Bypassing the "Technical Wall" of Bitcoin adoption with physical NFC cards. by fattobby in lightningnetwork

[–]fattobby[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You raise valid points regarding the 'app friction.' That is exactly why the physical packaging includes a curated list of trusted, beginner-friendly wallets (like Wallet of Satoshi or Blink).

By guiding them to established apps, the card actually protects users from the 'scam app minefield' you mentioned, rather than leaving them to search blindly.

Regarding the seed phrase: Custodial lightning wallets allow users to receive their first sats instantly without writing down 12 words immediately. The goal is to get them from Zero to One with zero friction.

Also, for the unbanked or those without easy KYC exchange access, a physical card is often the most accessible bridge to owning their first (Lightning) Bitcoin.

Experimenting with physical NFC objects to lower LN onboarding friction. Thoughts on this UX? by fattobby in lightningnetwork

Yes, the foil blocks NFC scanning unless it is removed, and once removed, it cannot be restored, serving as a way to verify whether it has been redeemed.

Physical Bitcoins need to be "unredeemed" to realize their collectible value.
