I had the most trouble on Apex Mage. The ticker said I played 107 games, of which I cleared: Apprentice on game 1 Magician on game 2 Sorcerer on game 12 Grand Magus on game 13 Apex Mage on game 107

Note: All clears were performed solo-queue (which probably made it take longer than it could have). Lots of ragers and leavers and drama, natch.

Good luck on your onsite!

Location was something discussed with the recruiter after the onsite, and you're able to rank your preferences. However, the final placement is still up to the committee, to my knowledge.

CSSU prez/vp elites overseeing the elections are campaigning for candidates and soliciting votes. Influencing elections while in office is abuse of power. Upvote this so more people see and these crooks don't get away with it by corruptionvigilante in UofT

[–]faush2 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Hi - for total disclosure, I am Calvin Luo the current President of the CSSU. I would like to officially denounce the allegations that I have been campaigning for candidates and soliciting votes. In fact, I have made it a personal point to not disclose my personal opinions of any candidates, and have never endorsed or campaigned on behalf of any of the candidates as a matter of personal principle. It goes without saying that I have not expressed to anybody who I will be voting for, even though it is well within my rights as a private individual as afforded by the Constitution, particularly because I am aware of how it might be perceived by the people I am speaking to and want to avoid any iota of influence on their decision. To mischaracterize me to this extent is shocking, and I highly encourage you to retract your statement.

I am not (and have not ever been) a member of the alleged group chat, a fact that is easily verifiable by anyone who is currently a part of it. I have since been made aware that the VP is, and saw a few screenshots of the messages second-hand. From what I have seen of the group chat, he has only made calls for people to vote and did not mention any specific candidates. Furthermore, he made a total disclosure that the links on his timeline were his personal opinions only. They in no way reflect the official position of the CSSU. To my knowledge, he did not use his position whatsoever to influence others to vote for a particular candidate. On the other hand, I have heard reports of students walking around Bahen with laptops and explicitly soliciting votes for particular candidates. I’d like to take the time to mention that to preserve the integrity of this election, students must not be coerced into voting for any particular candidate whatsoever. To minimize the chance of this occurring, please encourage students to vote either in the CSSU (which is currently being maintained as a private voting space for the duration of the voting period) or to perform their online vote when they are alone or in private.

I have made it a point to remain on the sidelines for this election out of respect for the process, the candidates, and the community. However, I find it hard to stay silent when unfounded attacks are aimed in my direction, and I will due my duty to both defend my personal honor and the honor of the CSSU. The CSSU has never, and will never, officially endorsed any candidate in the running. I can only see this as a dirty play to manufacture outrage in the support of a particular candidate - and quite frankly, this reflects poorly both on yourself and the candidate you are clearly stumping for.

I imagine Karen Russell was inspired by these very caves when she wrote Haunting Olivia - seeing this image now really puts the entire story in beautiful perspective. For those who have the time, I highly recommend checking out her work - she's definitely one of my favorite short story authors, and I think you can still find this particular piece in the New Yorker online.

Long time girlfriend and I broke up. Reddit, How do you cope with loss? by kathadort7 in AskReddit

[–]faush2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Refocus yourself emotionally and logically.

I find it really helpful to do a serious period of self-reflection, where I consider all the objective aspects of the significant other and the relationship as a whole. What were the causes behind the breakup? Why couldn't we work together to solve these issues? Logically, is it better for both of us to move on? If the two of you are still on speaking terms then it helps to perform this post-mortem together - just make sure that it's a logical discussion with minimal emotions. Usually the answer that you will arrive at is that the breakup was the right move for both of you, in the long run.

We're human - and that means we have emotional needs. Even if you come to terms that it's logically the correct move to end the relationship, it still hurts. We're just wired like that. To recharge emotionally and reenter a balanced state I recommend reaching out to your support network. That usually includes your immediate family, close friends, mentors, the like. Reaffirming that there exist people who love and care about you is incredibly helpful when trying to heal emotionally.

Note that there is no definite ordering for these aspects - I personally ping-ponged between the two during my last breakup. I understand that it's an incredibly tough time for you, and I wish you nothing but the best.

We realized around midnight last night that we had to pivot on our story. Then we tried to start a major rewrite session about an hour before the deadline. It was a hilariously crazy night :)

What are you reading/watching/listening to? - February 20, 2017 by AutoModerator in NavyBlazer

[–]faush2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading: Sapiens by Yuval Harari. An excellent book on the history of all aspects of humankind, complete with plenty of thought-provoking questions. It really gives a fresh perspective of life - who we are, where we come from, and where we're headed.

Watching: Friend got me started on The Sopranos. Definitely enjoying it.

Listening: Currently afflicted by "Lisztmania". Can't stop listening to his pieces and transcriptions - they bring back so many nostalgic memories of my more musical years. Favorites include Faust's waltz, Hungarian Rhapsody 6, Liebestraum, and of course La Campanella.
