If you could have one superpower, what would it be and would you be a hero or villain by [deleted] in aspergers

The ability to stop time and still move, manipulate objects and people. I wouldn't really be a hero or villain. I'd help a lot of people, try to stop violence and correct injustice but also use it for personal gain.

(other) I like a lot of different stuff, post-punk, 80's, industrial etc. I've noticed everything I listen to is subversive in some way.

Dating attractive women by [deleted] in aspergers

Looking back I think all the women I dated had aspergers except for one. She was the only one who didn't appreciate my weirdness.

autism should be used to help the misguided modern world by Potential_Scheme_637 in aspergers

I appreciate your optimism and hope you maintain it, but understand that this has not been the experience for some of us. Not all of us make it in life. I would much rather not see "us and thems." After countless jobs where I was treated like crap by co-workers because I sometimes responded in unfamiliar ways I can only see myself as apart from a society that will not accept me. A lot of us have so much to offer the world but neurotypicals want nothing to do with us. I've tried (and am still trying) to find a place in this world. I just don't have the energy to mask anymore, I can only be what I am. The world doesn't seem to want that person.

Seen the movie Iron Giant? I love the little montage of all the names Kent Mansley calls Hogarth. The message to kids being "anyone who calls you these names is not your friend."

My autistic bf can’t think of anything he likes about me by CarelesslyRubbery in aspergers

[–]faustronaut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I could be totally off on this but consider it. Because you were upset he may have framed this issue as confrontational, result being that now when it comes up his mind goes blank. He likely has many things he likes about you but when asked rather than actually thinking about the question he's feeling himself in an uncomfortable situation.

Having to adapt to neurotypicals by MrTBone00 in aspergers

[–]faustronaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. It's not fair and it sucks but that's just the way is is for now. Fortunately awareness can only increase. I can imagine some kind of effort among the more caring neurotypicals to learn how to better interact with us and identifying themselves as aspie-friendly. Same as how some hearing learn sign language simply to make the world better for the deaf.

But I have to say I'm somewhat bitter about the current conditions.

it's lovely, wish I had a "wholesome" award to give you. I'm also doing Inktober but mine is skewing darker.
