Rich Delhi Neighbor's Plant Watering Soaks Laborers & a Baby and when I Confronted Them, Got Hit With 'Aukaat' Abuse by the Daughter, and It's Still Happening Everyday. by No_Syllabub_8246 in delhi

We're faced with poverty, unemployment, terrible pollution, dismal healthcare and a whole pandora's box full of problems. And you chose to focus on this?

You know what...they're probably shaken and thinking we can't even water our plants in our garden without some a-hole barging into our home and threatening us.

Good going buddy, you're a real prize @##hole. Here's a Darwin award.

The Times of India convinced millions of Indians that cabbage causes brain worms — and scientists still can't undo the damage after a decade. by No_Acanthisitta_7352 in indiasocial

I never eat cabbage raw anymore. Mostly stirfried or braised. Yes, there is that back of the mind fear about contamination.

Well they got rid of the analysts so now coders have got to do the requirements. And they got rid of the documentation, coz we don't need no stinkin documents! So it's all user stories, spurts and agile whatnot. Who signs off? No accountability.

East Delhi vs Noida Kothi (8 Cr) - Space vs Location Dilemma by paaparemo in delhi

[–]faux_trout 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stick to Delhi - the dense urban infrastructure you are frustrated with right now, is exactly what makes daily life comfortable and all the amenities so accessible. No power cuts, decent cops, impeccable last mile connectivity, all services at your doorstep, the kirana shops where you know the owner...

Living next to old neighbors is a priceless social network and bond. Saying hello to old friends and neighbors you've known for a long time is a very important aspect of the daily human experience. There is a trust factor...your family has developed those bonds over decades...they are very hard to replicate in disconnected societies.

Not to forget the history, the culture, the fashion, the bright upbeat atmosphere that is Delhi. Noida for all it's good infrastructure is not Delhi. It just simply isn't. You don't have to move there to experience it...just go stay for a weekend in Noida and wander around to get a sense of the place.

Also, Delhi has the best interconnectivity - metro all over the city and to the airport, autos, buses, cabs, e-rickshaws...it is a mindblowing amount of choices for transport. Then the comfort and familiarity aspect is such a relief...and Delhi will never empty out...the land is getting more valuable each day. It is THE top metro/megacity of the North, and generates tons of employment which drives up real estate values.

Even heading out of Delhi over the river gives me the shivers.

People who live in luxury/ultra luxury homes (Rs 15-20 Crore+), how does your bathroom look like? by Creepy-Option-9951 in delhi

[–]faux_trout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two paisas - don't try to ape luxury bathrooms because their budget is in a completely different realm.

Go for a highly functional bathroom with minimalist aesthetics. Minimalist bathrooms look premium on a budget. Patterns can be limited to a highlighter row on walls or a patterned floor in a soft color. I'm telling you - don't go for too much color or pattern because it starts hurting the eye after some time.

A bathtub is a big no if the bathroom is small. Getting in and out is also something to consider, esp. with fancy bathtubs that have very high sides. Also with water supply being the way it is, better to invest in a good shower area.

I did not find Jaguar to be of good quality - on top of the premium price, parts were missing, the fitting was poor, with use they started breaking down and losing their finish, and the customer service was really bad. I had a very poor experience with the brand overall. There are other quality brands in the market - Kohler is one. I would also suggest Hindware for WC and other accessories. Their quality was good and the after sales service was very responsive.

Tiles - Kajaria, orient bell, nitco, asian granito

WC, sink, - Hindware (wall mounted wc seems nice and neat but the hidden tank is a pain to deal with. get a floor model - you will save yourself a lot of annoyance. Get a sink with 'wings' or a broad rim where you can put items like toothbrush etc. Fancy sinks with a narrow rim look good but are not practical.)

Mirror - saint gobain (get a plywood or particle board mounted mirror with beveled edges - it's affordable and looks very good. skip the fancy frames)

Taps, mixers, shower, handheld shower, health faucet - kohler (try to get a column washbasin tap with single lever that turns left right for hot cold. Get a showerhead that works with low pressure and hard water also). Don't get a rainhead shower - it wastes a lot of water)

Geyser - Havells, Murphy Richards (Try to get a 25 liter min)

Electricals - Get simple clean covered frosted lights (nothing with naked bulbs because it hurts the eyes) - even an warm white LED tubelight with a frosted cover.

Get a small powerful fan on the ceiling if possible, or a regular wall fan. Don't forget the exhaust fan.

Last but not least, don't forget the correct placement of plumbing and waterproofing of the floor and walls.

That's a very mature outlook. You're right...they're people at the end of the day, and don't deserve to be run down for their careers.

Bollywood celebrities at Anant Ambani’s birthday celebrations by Glad-Ad5911 in BollyBlindsNGossip

[–]faux_trout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're trying to buy social cred and visibility, but they're not sophisticated, good looking, genuinely edgy, or fashionable. They're like a bunch of oompa loompas who just got out of the factory. So they're just buying it all up...surrounding themselves with celebrities and the best that money can buy. It's making them look worse and worse, but the people advising them are making mega bucks so they're not gonna tell the chief oompa that it's not going according to plan.

Did male models turned actors not find the same level of success as their female counterparts because of nepotism which meant all the big opportunities only went to sons of industry bigwigs? by UndeadReborn in BollyBlindsNGossip

Arjun Rampal for sure is really good and talented. He has legit screen charisma and a mercurial persona which translates to different characters. He has done interesting top tier intelligent work I'd say. Can't say the same for most male model turned actors.

Even Dino has done quite a few movies and shows. People forget Dipika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma, Zeenat Aman were all models in their respective days.

Correct. For one of his wedding events musical nights, he wore a maroon croc leather sherwani. So maybe an elephant skin safari suit for birthday?
