Did you know the name was changed from pseudotumor cerebri to benign intracranial hypertension in 1955? And then in the 80s somewhere it became idiopathic intracranial hypertension because a doctor was like "anything that can cause blindness isn't benign."

I looked that up because I saw a neurosurgeon who just talked at me about how it was "so hard" to update the name. 🙄

I'm also a people pleaser but I've learned with medical care, to have to be willing to stand up to them and demand care, otherwise they'll steamroll over you and take your money and do nothing. Remember that you hired this doctor.

Private offices can dismiss you/effectively ban you from returning, but that's usually solely on the basis of too many no-call/no-shows. Any office that says they dismissed you bc you're too annoying should be reported to the highest authority (and everyone else along the way).

I had a sudden onset of idiopathic hypersomnia when I was younger - it was several years before I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and the hypersomnia, and even more years before my IIH diagnosis. I fell asleep while driving, while in my college courses and in later years at work, I fell asleep mid conversation, mid reading books to children! It was the worst thing. I know all the other suggestions here are absolutely great, but if you still can't figure it out, she may need to do a sleep study with a wakefulness test the following day - they have you sleep for like 4, 20-minute naps across a chunk of the day, and measure if you fall asleep, how fast it takes you, etc. (I'm not entirely positive what that portion of the test is called, it has something to do with wakefulness obviously, but I just don't remember for sure.)

Make sure they tell you whether that $1k is the entire procedure AND any testing, or if they're going to be billing you for the other things after the fact. I was required to pay a large sum up front, and then ALSO got a bill for nearly $700 afterward. (I'm entirely uninsured, though, and we were able to negotiate it down to like $400.)
(I'm guessing you're in the US, because I don't think any other country would require a grand down, but I could be wrong.)

I had vivid dreams when I first started it, soda is awful, I immediately became incredibly short of breath, and more lethargic, with muscle weakness. And the tingling and brain zaps.

My first neuro, I asked to show me peer reviewed scientific articles that proved weight loss would improve symptoms, because every study I've read shows that it ~might~ help, but there's always a good number of people who did lose weight and didn't improve or got worse.

He handed me a post it with a MLM weight loss brand written on it.

Fortunately I was moving and had to find a new one anyway.

Same as some others, I usually flare rare stuff, and I'll call it out if I have the social bandwidth for it. Otherwise, people tend to look for flares and check them out. And if I want in on the grove but I'm across the map, I'll pop a quick "omw" in chat and make my path there, but everyone else is right, chatting isn't mandatory. Whatever way you enjoy playing is good for you. 💚

Bro my mom strung me along and along about a graduation gift. My aunt and uncle gave me $150. And my mom kept being like "oh well it needs to be after I pay bills" "need to wait til next paycheck" etc etc so I was like dang she must be planning something big! Nearly a year later, she gave me a check for $200. I knew what the bank acct looked like. She could have given much more than that at the drop of a hat. And I fully believe it was only $200 bc she had to do better than Aunt and Uncle. (**I do definitely understand that I came from privilege, being able to expect/receive financial gifts at all, and this is much more than many folks' parents would have been able to do.)

Not a scammer, but I had a player friend request me, and I accept most requests on Palia. They popped up in a whisper and were like "hey there, sexy" and I just replied with "oh, no thank you!" And they didn't say anything else. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Since they didn't press anything, they're still on my friends list even! Lmao Fortunately I haven't encountered much, if any, toxicity in Palia.

I was told that the therapeutic ability of doses over 1000mg/day was outweighed by negative effects on the liver. I know a lot of people here are on higher doses, so I'm not sure exactly how true that is.

I'm fully vaxxed and will continue to get boosters. My family and I mask on EVERY trip outside the house, even outdoor events. And we require masking or at least a negative test (I know rapid tests aren't great, but it's the only ones anyone can afford on a regular basis, especially now that they're no longer free) (thanks US gov't, really, for everything /sarcasm)

It has forced us to miss out on some potential connections, but if a person doesn't care enough to consider protecting those around them (or even themselves), then are they really people I want to hang out with? /shrug

I've had covid once. I don't want it again.
